**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I just flashed the UK BTU Nougat on my XEU marshmallow using Odin with no problems ( it's still XEU )

*****You must use the latest Odin or you're in a world of pain*******

Did you lose any data etc? Any chance of giving step by step instructions of how you did it? And will it have any impact on receiving future OTA updates?

I flashed the file from this thread on XDA

I used the HOME_CSC_OXA file in the CSC space in ODIN (make sure you use latest ODIN)

I removed my SIM & SDcard before flashing (deleted the Android, LOST.DIR & .android_secure folders from the Scdard)

I then flashed using Odin, rebooted & let everything settle.

Switched back off & inserted SIM/ SDcard

Switched on

All Apps & data still there & working (I don't have apps on SDcard)

Phone still says it's a XEU, not got a clue if OTA's work, will worry about that when it does(nt) happen

It's pretty pointless on any "phone" screen really. I posted very close-up photos between the two back in the early beta days and you couldn't even tell the pixels apart at first glance.

Obviously for VR it's a different matter, and this is why the option to switch resolution is now available.

Had another phantom update notification earlier. It's as if they're trying to wind me up now.

Same here last night - how strange? Rebooted and got the update message then nothing. Second time this has happened. I might just flash it myself today. Original phantom update came after I Rebooted the phone.

I've tried a couple of glass ones on S7 (none edge) and they were hopeless. Both didn't go to the glass edge (because it's curved) which I knew when buying them. Even then neither stuck down on right edge for some reason and the edges were incredibly annoying being 2mm or so from the edge. Thought I could live with it but was wrong. Both discarded into the bin. Screen is naked and doesn't seem to be getting those micro scratches you can see when display is off and angled to the light. Lives in my pocket on it's own. I don't want to spoil such a good display with a piece of plastic glued over it

Cheers mate.

Out of interest, why did you remove sd card and SIM? Was it to prevent data loss on the sd card? I ask cos thinking of flashing my S7 and I'm somewhat of a Samsung newbie.

Can anyone who is experiencing a grey background when AOD is active try installing Blackr from Google Play and report back if that gives you a true black screen when you enable it?

Trying to work out if the issue is truly a hardware fault - I can't see how it can be if Blackr can achieve it?

Blackr works perfectly for me, blacker than the darkest night. Whereas AOD is still a dark grey.

I too cannot see how it is a hardware fault since it only started happening since the Nougat beta.

Also, worth noting for the gamers among you, that both PS4 and XBOX controllers work with the S7 on Nougat out of the box. With the PS4 you need to conn ect a USB cable, but with the XBOX pad, you can simply use it wirelessly via the XBOX360 wireless receiver for Windows.

Seems to work well, especially once casting the screen to a TV/Chromecast etc.
