**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I never trust the phone not to erase the SDcard ( 100G of music & photos) and as the SIM card is on the same tray....why not ? :)

Thought as much. Think I'll have to flash nouget as no OTA update as yet.

Anyone with a Vodafone S7 got the update today? Rumour was they might push it today.

Nothing yet for my XEU model.

It's funny reading some of the forums, there's people who haven't got the update literally whining so hard and making empty threats like 'if I don't get the update by x, I'm going to throw this phone away and get an iphone'.

Spat there dummies(pacifier) ..hehe

Just shows the mentality of people today

Sorry if Ive missed something from pages ago but wondering if anyone else has seen the below happen with their G7edge

I will be actively using the screen in any application (ie actually scrolling a webpage or playing a game) and the screen appears to go into low power mode / lose brightness even when the battary is still at 80-90% charge (might expect this kind of event at 30% to keep it going but not at 90%) - its driving me bonkers.

Ive checked all the display and power settings and cant see anything obvious that would be doing this

Definitely not auto brightness? Got any battery saving apps installed that might be doing it?

No additional apps - and given that we are talking when Im stationary / not tilting the phone I cant see why auto brightness is affecting it (can appreciate this would be the case if Im moving from lets say a dark room to a much lighter one however)

Just to make sure I have de-activated, and left auto brightness off, but its still happening.

Yeah thought I'd ask as mine tends to change at times, I guess if the shadow from my finger blocks the sensor.

I guess the easy way to rule out software would be to restore it to factory and see if it still does it, could identify if it's a hardware issue.

Haha it's ridiculous, I wonder if those people think Nougat is going to suddenly transform their phone into an S8. I bet they'll be disappointed when it looks mostly the same with a few tweaks here and there :p

Indeed, i've barely noticed any difference. They've waited this long, surely no real issue to wait a bit longer, people are funny old things. :)

Yes, I know, I've been in such a temper since last Tuesday. I've emailed Samsung to tell them it's not good enough and I've been so angry, I've thrown the phone down. More than that I've emailed the MD of Samsung and told him he's not getting a Christmas card this year  That'll learn him!

More seriously it's not been a lot different on the Moto X forums. Folks saying they'll never buy another Motorola phone again because of the delay getting Nougat. Updates were very prompt with Motorola but now they're owned by Lenovo they've slipped badly.

My S7 is XEU and not got Nougat yet. That said I don't think I've checked since Saturday night. I have downloaded the Nougat BTU firmware and intended to flash it at the weekend. Thing is I've not had an S7 all that long and very happy with the way it performs. Battery is good as is most everything else I do with the phone and can't imagine what would make it so much better flashing Nougat. I guess though the risk is small I'm in no hurry to brick my phone. Curiosity will eventually get the better of me I'm sure :D

Any of you seen the Samsung Note 7 apology video they posted? Quite humble to be fair and their lab looks really cool. Would like to take a tour of it to see how our phones get made and tested.

LMAO at those whining at not getting the update. If its so important to them why dont they just go grab the ROM from samfirmware and flash it in ODIN and while they are at it go get a life.

It's what I did, it took my 30 mins max.

My feeling at this stage is simply that there must be a reason why they stopped it, maybe bugs, I dunno, anyway, I used to be a serial ROM flasher, now I just CBA. I'll just wait, my phone is running OK anyway.

I wondered myself and hence the caution. I thought if there were any bugs they'd have been reported here but on that front it seems very quiet. I too used to root and flash roms but not sure it's worth the hassle any more. I might flash Nougat via Odin though :D

Samsung are probably being cautious and not too keen on getting their fingers burnt again.

Not seen it. I did wonder what they have done with all the millions of Note 7's they've taken back in. Fitting a slightly smaller battery and calling them Note 8's later in the year ;)

They haven't stopped it, its rolling out now but yes I agree if I hadn't had cause to do a full reset couple of days ago due to a borked micro-sd I would have happily stayed on 6.0 but as I was resetting the thing anyway I though I'd flash it.

I'm 2 days in and haven't had any issues so far but one thing positive thing I've noticed is that my signal strength at work has improved, I'd normally be sat at 4G 1 bar but I'm sat here with 4G 3 bars, speeds don't 'seem' any different but the stronger signal is nice.

I like you was a serial ROM flasher but it just gets old very quickly and unless the original OEM software has some serious flaws I just don't see that there is much to gain from flashing custom roms these days.
