**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Any of you seen the Samsung Note 7 apology video they posted? Quite humble to be fair and their lab looks really cool. Would like to take a tour of it to see how our phones get made and tested.

Just watched it (got a bit distracted by the hot Korean lady mind you).

The fact they have come out and openly apologized in such a way will work in their favour ahead of S8/Note 8 tbh, good move.

I'd love to have a tour of the Samsung factory that was shown towards the end!

They haven't stopped it, its rolling out now but yes I agree if I hadn't had cause to do a full reset couple of days ago due to a borked micro-sd I would have happily stayed on 6.0 but as I was resetting the thing anyway I though I'd flash it.

I'm 2 days in and haven't had any issues so far but one thing positive thing I've noticed is that my signal strength at work has improved, I'd normally be sat at 4G 1 bar but I'm sat here with 4G 3 bars, speeds don't 'seem' any different but the stronger signal is nice.

I like you was a serial ROM flasher but it just gets old very quickly and unless the original OEM software has some serious flaws I just don't see that there is much to gain from flashing custom roms these days.

I'll take your word for them not stopping it, still I'll just wait. I am curious about a few things, but they're not exactly life changing things! I don't blame you for putting it on if you were wiping your phone anyway, I'd have done the same TBH.

Agree with the custom ROMs. It was rare that I was ever happy with one for more than a few weeks, couple of months tops. Sometimes it was as simple as wanting a new "theme" but as the S7, and many android apps can do that anyway, there seems little point. Half of the time it was to try and fix bugs that were in the stock firmware, but at this point, phones are much better than they were anyway.

There are a few things I am quite looking forward to with the Nougat update (or at least am curious about) but I'm far too lazy to bother with that stuff now :D

XEU and nothing here, well up to Thursday evening. Curiosity got the better of me and I've flashed my S7 via Odin. I opted to flash HOME_CSC rather than CSC and this left my data intact. Saved having to reload apps and settings over again though I'm told Samsung Cloud Backup is quite good at restoring stuff? If I get any issues I can always restore the phone or flash CSC instead.

So far all good. Mostly as has been pointed out on this forum thread. Battery seems a little better but needs more time to bed in. I'm sure Doze is working better when phone is not been used in my pocket. AoD is improved. Phone feels a little faster though might be because screen res was dropped a notch by default though I've moved it back up to see if so and so far still feels that bit better.

Can't say I was getting annoyed with Samsung over the delay as guess this is how these things work I suppose. I'd downloaded 7 firmware and it's nowt of a job flashing it so why not. I read on XDA a few more countries are now getting N pushed out to their S7's. XEU might not be long now. As others have said it's easy enough to flash. My S7 CSC code is still XEU as I flashed HOME_CSC rather than CSC. Both files are in the firmware zip. All up it's an improvement and probably worth the wait... or not if you're like me :D

It's strange that i need to wait for three to ok it on an unlocked payg three phone, i always assumed unlocked meant you got the updates direct from Samsung.

Nope. Unlocked means you can use any sim.

The s7 on three Payg uses Three software/firmware and its this that we is used in the upgrade process.

You can flash to the international btu firmware which gets updates faster than the carrier branded handsets. If you use Odin and stock btu your warranty will still intact

Standby time seems much improved with Nougat on my S7. Battery draining a lot slower when phone is in my pocket.

Email notifications were grouped together in one notification per account which was fine for me. Since Nougat every email that drops into my inbox is reported as a single notification making a right mess of notifications. Seems to be no way of stopping this apart from stopping Email notifications from my email app. Think I read about this issue on here earlier? A big backwards step

Seems vodafone is going to be a while....
