**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I put a Sandisk 128GB card in my S7E at the time of purchase which was the day of the S7E release. I find that often the card isn't recognised by the phone and photos are saved to internal memory and it takes lots of reboots or button sequence pressing to get it to show up and then the photos on it. If I do the regular software update or restart the phone it takes loads of attempts for the card to show - annoying !!
Doing a bit of research seems this is fairly common, is it a phone issue or a Sandisk memory card issue?
Different comments on the internet say you should use a Samsung memory card and then you don't have any problems. Is this true or just a ploy to get you to buy the Samsung card as it's a Samsung phone?
The Sandisk card came from Argos, I don't know about returning it if it's the card being the problem.
Any thoughts on the Sandisk vs Samsumg card?

Could be the card. Not same phone but Moto x style some time back did same thing. In end tried a new card and no more problems. Used to be there one minute and then gone the next. Sometimes took a couple of reboots for system to see it again. Didn't last for long. New card sorted it. Both old and new cards were SanDisk but new one was faster. The replacement card is working fine in my current S8.

I got the latest update a few days ago and sincectge my battery life has been absolute pump. Do not use my phone heavily and now struggle to get through a day.

Overnight battery went from 31% down to 9% and now typing this have done 5 mins web browsing and battery dropped 3% not good at all

Nothing new installed or changed either

Ive got the pink line on my S7 Edge screen. Its a loose connection - if you press down on the Samsung logo it goes away, release and the line comes back.

Has anyone had the screen ribbon/connection fixed outside of warranty, and if yes how much did it cost you?

I did.. it was a faulty screen and Samsung replaced free of charge. Give them a call if its < 24 months old.

I can't do it with Samsung. My phone is rooted, technically it's under warranty but officially it's not.

They quoted me £230 to replace the screen. The phone is only worth about £300.

*weird thing is that the pink line hasnt been there for 2 days, defo loose connection*

I thought they had to prove it was a software fault before they could refuse warranty ?

Because my phone is rooted it automatically voids warranty.

What annoys me though is that its a common fault with the phone (and other one's) and it shouldnt matter if its rooted or not. And to be told 'We have to wipe the phone to replace the screen' pee'd me off more.

I thought the law mentioned in this XDA post still applied. Worth a read just in case :)

Thanks for that. I emailed Samsung earlier and if they still refuse Ill send them that link :)

*edit* how rude. i was talking to a rep for samsung via chat and he dropped the session because I kept telling him the fault was with them and not me. :) *

Mine was rooted, I arranged warranty repair via online chat. Wasn't asked if it was rooted nor did I mention it. It's been fixed and is currently on the way back to me via courier.

A couple of months ago I was asked if I was rooted while trying to log a warranty call via phone support and they refused straight away.

It doesn't sound like they check if the device is rooted when repairing the pink line issue. Rooting obviously plays zero part in the pink line appearing anyway, so I wouldn't feel too guilty claiming your device isn't rooted when trying to get it sorted under warranty.

The rep from Samsung kept telling me because I was rooted I had to pay for the repair to the software and fix the screen. But I kept telling him the software was fine, it was the screen that was faulty.

I wont give up, Im determined :)

With my S7 Edge now nearly out of warranty Im thinking of testing a custom ROM.. Whats the best custom ROM for the S7 Edge?

(When using custom ROMs on my S4 I remember a number of them didnt work well with the camera - it is vital that the Samsung Camera app works 100% after installation)

From memory, only stock based ROMs can make use of the Samsung Camera app - I spent ages trying to find one when I owned an S7 Edge.

Was trying to wait for the Pixel 3, or possibly next years S10+ (or similar) but the battery life on my S7E is absolutely terrible at the moment. Last month or so seems to be barely lasting a day, and just had my phone die on me having used it (screen on) for barely an hour or two today.

May be time to look at the S9+ or possibly even an iPhone X....hmmm decisions!
