**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

If you have an S6 there is really no need to upgrade until S8, unless you really think a better camera, battery and SD card are worth it.

In real terms this isn't a big deal for normal use.

I would say a better battery, battery camera also the SD card slot are well worth it, and lets not forget waterproof and dust proof in the mix.

Yup it does, Samsung said the S7 charges faster than the S6, which is neat as the battery is bigger. It utilises the 15w wireless charging standard too whereas the S6 only supports 5w. So wirelesss charging will be as fast as wired in most cases when a 15w base is used or the Samsung Fast charger with a QC2. 0 mains USB block.

I believe the S7 comes with such a block as standard now.

I didn't realise it charges even faster than the S6, that's awesome. There's a lot going for the S7. Bigger battery, faster charging, considerably faster CPU, waterproof and better camera. I think you can make phone calls on it as well but don't quote me on that. :p

Yeah, I lived with the S2 from 2011 to 2015. Could have upgraded sooner but didn't bother for some reason. However, from now on I'll be upgrading every 2 years as I'm on 24 month contracts, so next year I'll get the S8. That'll have everything the S7 has plus whatever new innovations, and maybe larger default internal storage or SD cards that apps can be installed to.

You would, and maybe I would, but perhaps many who perhaps feel more financial impact from handset and contract renewals would not.

It's a luxury upgrade, really, not an earth-shaking one.

I would 99.9% on these forums like the latest tech though.

Interesting. So the new stand up Base is a newer standard to the quick wireless chargers for the note 5?

It seems so, but neither support 15w out of the box according to online posts. Until Samsung release technical specs of the new stand one we won't know for sure, but it certainly seems that way given that:

1: Samsung have said the S7 charges faster wirelessly, given that it supports 15w, this has to mean that the new stand also must support it.
2: A Samsung rep contacted a tech blog stating the S7 supports 15w wpc standard although Samsung doesn't have any out of the box 15w wpc charging bases yet.

They both look to have the same specs.

Been having a look around at the screen protectors - seen that zagg wont have tempered glass one out until closer to the summer but they do have : http://www.zagg.com/uk/en_uk/invisi...creen-protector-hd-dry-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge

Ordered S7 Edge via CPW on O2 upgrade. Unlimited with 5GB and inc VR. £199 down and £34 monthly. Not the best, not the worst but wanted to stay on the O2 network so works for me. Upgrading direct with O2 would have been considerably more expensive than CPW and would not have included the VR.

Recycled my Z3 and smartwatch 3 as can't be bothered with eBay etc. Z3 has been a great phone but looking forward to a change. Smartwatch will not be missed.

Now the wait.......

Anyone know when we can expect full reviews (rather than quick hands on reviews), is there a set date they're allowed to be published?

+1. The only thing holding me back from pre-ordering is waiting to hear what the battery life is like day to day.

I don't buy the two day battery life claim that's been going round (though I would love to be proved wrong) but if it can get through a day's moderately heavy use with 15-20% left at the end of the day I'll be more than happy.

One the great things about the S7/S7 edge is that Samsung has also made the wireless backpack ...;)

One of the coolest accessories Samsung has for the Galaxy S7 is a battery case that charges the phone wirelessly. It’s pretty awesome.

The Backpack adds an extra 3,400 mAh to the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge. Combined, that gives you 6,400 mAh for the Galaxy S7 and a whopping 7,000 mAh for the Galaxy S7 Edge.
More than enough to get through a couple of days. The Backpack will be available in mid-March for around $90. Do you plan on picking one of these cool battery cases up?.

For all of you who are buying the S7 Edge sim free, what phone insurance company are you thinking of going with? :)

Haven't had phone insurance for years as I had a fairly cheap phone, but did recently decide I'd quite like it if I get a new phone. Decided to just switch to the £10 monthly account my bank (Nationwide) does which includes it, I think what I get for a tenner is decent value.
