**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Going from a S6 edge to the S8 is a huge upgrade for me, its lighting quick, amazing screen, Camera is better. Just love the look of the phone. Thats my personal opinion..

You need to get wifi calling set up with vodafone. I did it the other day using the live chat on my vodafone. It's on my account now but I still don't see any options for it. I guess I'll find out if it's worked tomorrow when I get back to work Where I don't get a signal.

Also, I picked up the new samsung wireless charger with a samsung silicone case and a couple of Screen protectors for £45. It means I could finally take the protective wrapping off lol.
I text CALLING to 97888 and got a text back saying Wi-Calling was now on my account and to change the setting on the phone. restarting the phone though as I still can't find the option on the phone.

Is bixby that bad? I know it is kinda re-inventing the wheel and samsung seem to be doing their best to separate from google (odd considering they wouldnt be where they are now without android) which is putting some people off but didnt you all know what you were getting into before you got the phone and anyone else will root and rom anyway wont they?

Well, when everyone was ordering, it was confirmed to be settable to any function, it was only a day or two before release they announced they were trying to stop that working. It's a button that can be used much better for other stuff considering bixby is easily accessible in other ways anyway.

It's also not finished, so people are less inclined to try it against more polished competition like Google Assistant which is also already on the phone.

So just spoke to EE customer support and I need to port out to a PAYG (Whos best to go for that doesn't take ages?) and then PAC and port back in again :(

Pain in the rear ...

I just think it's pointless and adds no value. Fair enough if some people can make use of it, but I have little use for Bixby or Google Assistant and would rather the button be able to be useful for something else.

Debating on sending the 8 back I'll be honest it does absolutely nothing that my s6 edge plus can't do and tbh my edge plus battery is even a little better which is weird, camera isnt a crazy improvement since the camera on s6ep is still fantastic, i don't know maybe i was expecting too much.

Totally agree with you.. I am going to return the s8+ too. Beautiful device really really nice, apart from the screen, its pretty much no different to the s7 edge.

One thing that just lets me down for android is that apps are no way as smooth or good compared to the iphone's version app. For example, youtube just looks and feels a lot better on iphones than androids version.

I do have a jailbroken iphone 7 plus which pretty much lets me do what i want, im hoping the note 8 will persuade me to move over.

Is anyone else having issues with the led notification. Mine works as in the led functions but never seems to light up for notification.

Hmm actually there could be a fault. Just plugged the charger in and the led doesn't light up to show it's charging which I think it did before

This is exactly my thoughts also. I have an iPhone 7 plus (Not Jailbroken) but fancied a move back to android so purchased the S8+. On the whole I really like the device although not sure I can totally justify the switch. The screen is awesome, the iris scanner is also superb, however that fingerprint sensor location!

Like you I think I may send the device back and await the Note 8. Although I have to say the Samsung Sidesync app is fantastic!

Received my Clear Cover case from Samsung. So thin!

Glad to hear it, it's really nice, protection is well questionable but at least it doesn't detract from the look of the phone :)

I'm trying out my silicone case for a few days to see how i get on with it but really liking that too.

Apart from the two piece case Samsung have done a great job this time around.

Just started using my S8 today. What a beautiful phone but disappointed I saw a bit of lag!

Had that after my initial set up but once I was fully up and running the lag quickly disappeared :)

Also I haven't conducted a reboot or anything yet with my uptime at 98hours so far and it's smooth as performance wise.
