**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Managed to bag a decent early upgrade with Vodafone, so have now joined the S8+ train!

Coming from the Pixel XL, having previously owned the S7 Edge (and all S flagships since the S2), this phone is top notch on all fronts!

So tempted to grab an S8. Currently on an iPhone 6 Plus which is nearing 3 years old now and it's starting to get a little slow. Had iPhones for years but now I think I'm bored of iOS and fancy a change. That, and I really can't be bothered with the usual iPhone stock fiasco at every single launch. That said, part of me thinks I should wait to see what Apple do come out with this year, but I still can't make my mind up :(

Do it, I came from the iPhone 6 plus. Yep some things are weird and take getting used to, but its mostly been a nice change.

I've had the sound cutting out issue a few times now :( Couldn't remember the fix (had a read and seems to be tapping above the speaker solves it apparently for some)... I just either restarted the phone and/or kept going back in and out of the video I was trying to play and it worked once with that... So I think it is software hopefully can be fixed in an update.

Bit strange the massive thread on the Samsung forum about it is no longer available

Screen burn

So is it so that the navigation bar area 'wears' at same rate as the rest of display? I'm guessing black pixels are turned off and so won't burn in as fast. Have I got this right?

With some apps the navigation bar is still black and with others it blazes white, sticking out like a sore thumb.

i've had screen burn on my s2, s4 and note 4, and i treated them well. The wife left her ip camera app running on her s7 overnight with the brightness up pretty high and it it suffered with some pretty heavy image retention. it is fading but i dont think it'll disappear entirely :/

I love oled screens, i just wish they were a bit more robust. It does worry me with the brightness levels these latest oled panels can hit, that cant be good for the screens at all.

Wow man, you must have the most bad luck out of us!

I've had the Note 3/4/S2/S3/S4/S5/S6/S7 and now the S8+ and never had any issues with screen burn or IR.

Mine were all on contract and bar the S2 it was a gradual thing. I guess having owned that many phones you didn't have many of them for over 12 months? By 2 years I had obvious burn in of the notification bar on the S4 and note 4. My S2 was knackered by then lol

On average I'd say 1.5 years, and they were used quite heavily.

Who knows, maybe I just never noticed it, but I have a S5 in the household which I've had since 2014 and has been used pretty much daily and no signs of screen burn or IR.

The haptic vibration on the S8 is poo compared to my IPhone 6s. Also the sound volume is very quiet for notifications, and because of this I miss a lot of messages.

I regret upgrading/switching to an Android phone.

Dropped my S8 whilst on holiday in St Ives, fell out of my shorts whilst unloading the car when we arrived, looked like it landed on it back and was find but the following morning I noticed a hairline crack on the top left :(

It's not really noticeable but I know its there all the same
