**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Have just ordered a S8+ to be delivered tomorrow.

I recently changed my mobile account from personal to business. Used a 3rd party shop to order a phone and new contract - having spoken to them and asked if it was OK to use them as it was a business account.

Get an email saying sorry, you've failed credit checks but on a subsequent phone call confirmed they can't handle business account!

Spoke to EE and the business offers are terrible compared to personal and all +VAT which I'm not VAT registered.

Decided to just buy the phone and stay on SIM only. Was either this of the OnePlus 5T or HTC U11+ but went with the S8+ in the end.

When I’ve used Samsung devices in Adaptive display mode it still looks over saturated.

I don’t believe it works like True Tone.

Adaptive is the most saturated display mode, it's the last one you want to use if you don't like over saturation.

Anyway yes I've been hoping Samsung will implement something like true tone although I'm happy running in cinema mode tbh. Looks about right in daylight to me :)

On a different note, it looks like Facebook is fixed on oreo now :)

has anyone else's S8 started to get a random camera blur? It came out of nowhere and was completely blurry today. I googled it and found loads of posts from people who experienced the same thing and to get rid of it you need to shake or tap the top right corner of your S8 and the blur goes away immediately and the lens refocuses. I had already booked it in to Samsung warranty service which is due to pick it up today but now I'm wondering if there's any point since it seems so many have reported the issue and fix it with shaking the phone or tapping it.

Cheers, I'll give it a go then. I assume you can roll back to 7.0 release if required?

You can flash a stock rom with ODIN. Instructions are available here. This will not void warranty as they are official roms. You can also use this method to update to the lastest Android 7 update, the november update is the most recent.

Obviously if you are downgrading from Oreo you will require a reset, so backup with smart switch (PC version) first.

I got mine on release and it's slowed down abit, battery life is going down hill.

Yeah unfortunately battery life goes down for every phone now :( Lucky if you can maintain 1 year of consistent good battery life let alone 2 years :( What's best to ensure you maintain the battery health, I presume to not use wireless and fast charging?

Glad I spent the extra to get it from amazon now, any sign of performance degradation or severe battery issues within a year, I will have no problem getting a full refund from them down the line.

Battery life on mine is fine and its nice and fast on oreo beta 3. That could be down to regular system updates but either way it's running good.

I do however have accubattery set to notify me when the battery reaches 80% charge so i can unplug it. It's supposed to help extended the life of the battery. I have my doubts but if there's any truth in it then it's worth doing.

Surely does that not just mean that you will have to charge more often and as a result, wear out the battery even more?

Also, are people using googles camera app on the gs8 for the HDR+ mode, if so, how is it? That is one thing I love about google's phones, the photos just look so natural where as samsung whilst very nice initially, they do tend to look over processed with regards to saturation + sharpness.

Charging that last 20% is supposed to be a lot harder on the battery. Even charging to 80% I still end up charging it once a day or maybe twice if im really hammering it so that hasn't really changed. The reduced wear from not charging to 100% is supposed to outweigh the wear from any additional charging cycles. We'll see but I had enough issues with batteries on my note 4. At least they were removable!

Ah ok fair enough, will install that when I get mine and set it to 80% too.

I'm on Oreo beta and phone still feels slick enough. No slowdowns that I've noticed.

Battery is fine as still at 100% capacity according to Accubattery. I charge every night to 100% on a none fast charging wireless charging pad. Battery isn't losing capacity like previous phones. All good

I'm using Opera. I've found it's one of the few that reflow text properly when you zoom in - you don't have to scroll left/right to read? That said I've not checked others lately. Sync bookmarks and open tabs with Opera on other devices and laptops and find the 'speed dials' handy. Options are sparse and Opera development is as fast an asthmatic slug

Having said that Opera seems to have had an update. Quicker access to desktop site option and and add blocker. Seems a touch laggy at times but at least it appears there a a development team.
