**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

I'm waiting until some battery tests start to come out, currently have an s6 edge plus and can't see the s8 lasting more than this.. had a play with one yesturday can't justify the upgrade my s6 edge plus is still fast with a decent camera

Seems a bit more of a boost than the "minor" s7edge owners are claming? CPU Multitasking is a good 30% higher there.

Rounded up numbers:

S7 S8 Increase:
Overall 131000 173000 32%
3D 473000 720000 52%
UX 38000 52000 37%
CPU Overall 35000 38000 9%
CPU Multi Core 12000 16000 33%
RAM 10000 10000 0%

I'm really torn between keeping my £45.05 monthly 10gb Vodafone order or changing to the £39 monthly 30gb MPD

There's a reasonable amount of people complaining about MPD online and that's made me a bit cautious. Then again, there are about 12,000 reviews and overall it is about 8.7/10

Yes.

It's the look I'd go for.

I'm still torn, if this had stereo speakers like on the iPhone /HTC 10 and a better FPS location it'd be a no brainer for me.
Nice! Was well impressed with my Surface dbrand stuff. Will probably get something for the S8.

Hmm yeah I am not too bothered about speakers but I agree with you on the FPS

I don't remember the last time I actually used phone speaker for anything other than odd "Here watch this youtube video", always earphones/headphones for watching vids/movies etc.

If it really bothers you that much then wouldn't a bluetooth speaker offer much better quality anyway? They can fit in a pocket nowadays.

Should be getting the S8+ on the 20th. :D Just wish there was a place to have a play with the phones ahead of buying. Oh well, guess that's just how it's gonna be with preordering stuff.

EE have them in store to demo. I believe this is a retail exclusive for a short while. Had a play about with the plus and although the screen is amazing, I found it ergonomically very difficult to reach that far down to use the onscreen buttons.

Same here, I thought plus would be the way to go coming from note series but the s8 plus is just too long - I found it a serious stretch to reach either bottom or top of the screen, the normal s8 feels so much better in the hand and there isn't that much of a screen size difference.

Carry a Bluetooth speaker everywhere? Nah not an option. I watch a lot of youtube etc while eating meals and while at work on shift so I appreciate good sound. I have a Nexus 6 at the moment which has great speakers and small bezels. No excuse from Samsung really not to implement the earpiece as a speaker.

And for the price they are charging for these a dual camera setup for wide angle would have been greatly appreciated.

I'm in no real rush for a new handset, I can wait a few more months for the OP5/Pixel/Note 8. I keep my phones for a couple of years so I like to have the features I want from the get go.

Fair enough, to me any phone speaker, or really even bluetooth speaker unless high quality and good size, sound all equally rubbish compared to £300 earphones/headphones. Until a phone speaker can match that quality I could not care less, it does the job for what it's used. The cameras on the phones are already pretty damn good and start to match or even outdo what not long ago we used to have on standalone digital cameras which were twice the size of the phone.

If they had to fit anything extra in, I would much prefer for it to be a larger battery or CPU good enough to replace tablet/laptop in productivity.

The latter might happen in the next 2-3 years but I think the batteries are always going to be tiny since more often required to recharge = more battery cycles = faster degradation = have to upgrade to new phone quicker. Clearly they don't want our phones to last longer than 2-3 years.

That new samsung speaker that CPW gives away with s8 though looks like it will fit in jacket/bag and doubles as power pack - sounds like a decent idea.
