They're synthetic benchmarks, in real world use it's highly unlikely anyone will notice a difference.
Android Nougat is highly optimised these days also, so app launch and general use is well under control. The days of needing a flagship to have a smooth OS experience are long gone.
I would recommend people weigh in the bigger pros and cons of buying the S8 right now. Remember it ships with Nougat 7.0, not 7.1.1 or 7.1.2. Considering the S7 hasn't even got 7.1 yet, it's unlikely the S8 will get it anytime soon either, and then we've got Android .0 coming out later this year.
Will either Galaxy get 8 this year? I highly doubt it given how long Samsung took to release 7.0 for the S6 when the S7 release finally happened.
The competition is already shipping with at least 7.1.1.
Personally I'm not paying nearly £800 for a device that could remain stuck on an old Android version for months on end!
The rear camera sensor is the IMX333 vs the S7's 260, but the specs are the same. It has multiframe shooting, but otherwise all the samples I have seen comparing the two so far show no major differences.
You could get an S7 edge and save nearly £400 odd?
My impression is that everything properly good has been saved for the Note 8 because Samsung ran out of time with the S8 due to fast tracking its release and hashing in the fingerprint sensor on the back as a result, as well as putting a smaller battery in both devices than what should be in them.
