**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

I think you're right about me mixing the two up. I'll try and have a play with the S8+, but really I don't even try to use them one-handed these days. I'd need a five inch thumb to reach the top corner of one of these screens.

I'm coming from a note4 which is almost same size as s8+ and I find it too tall (same phone size but screen is much taller). Even two handed use is quite a stretch unless you're using your phone in portrait mode...

The s8 on the other hand has screen around the same size as note series while fitting in 1 hand perfectly. The reduced width really helps, I don't think the extra bit of screen from the plus is necessary unless you need that space for spreadsheets and the like. The resolution is same on both as well. That's what I think at least

My Mam recently got an S7 and I must confess that it was something of a pleasure to be able to use a phone (mostly) one-handed again. I'm worried about the battery on the S8, though. 3000mah is lower than I want and I reckon the S8+ will easily outlast it, even with the increased screen size.

I don't think battery will be worse than s7 is. You get bigger screen but more efficient cpu/gpu which will use less power to do same stuff. There was a test on YouTube showing 6hr+ on screen time with heavy use and still having some juice left. Whilst I don't expect it to be better than s7 line I doubt it will be worse. It surely isn't going to be worse than note4 3200mah battery with much older SD805 which takes double the power and struggles with basic use running on 100% on all cores.

I went from a Note 2 (4 hours SoT) to an iPhone 6s+ (over 9 hours SoT). The battery on the iPhone has degraded so that it now struggles to give 4 hours SoT and certain apps can drain half the battery in minutes. I'm aiming to get back to that 8-9 hours with my next phone. I don't think the S8 will get there, but the S8+ probably will.

Got to have a play with the S8 and S8+ in CPW today.

Both are extremely gorgeous and feel so good in the hand, however I am glad I ordered the S8 as the 8+ is just too big/long. really like the Orchid Grey though.

Currently have a Nexus 5X which has seen better day, other than the screen and storage is this a good upgrade option if I can get it at the right price from EE?

Camera is good on the Nexus and I use that a fair bit not sure if this would be a step back

Given in and ordered an S8+, to see if I want to swap my 7+ for it or not. It'll be my first android since my Note 4, which didn't end well, so hopefully this one is nicer.

Hardware wise it's amazing, I just hope the software doesn't let it down.

those who have ordered from smart phone company/MPD...does your status show "awaiting network decision" too? Wondering if it's because it's a pre-order and they don't actually process that bit until they have stock, or if something is iffy with my application (i'm already with Vodafone so potentially something to do with that)

'Awaiting network decision' seems normal tbh, I wouldn't worry. May take slightly longer than usual because as you said, it's a pre-order.

The S8+ deal @ £39 a month has changed, they now also want £7.99 upfront the same as MPD.

Mobiles.co.uk seem to be slacking this year, they haven't let me down for the past 5 years, I know its coming.. :D

Wasn't going to get the S8 but the GPS on my S6 Edge+ has gone haywire following a spillage incident. Don't really want to switch from EE but the prices look a bit of a joke compared to what Vodafone have on offer, going to give them a call and see if they can match it.
