**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Means you cant charge your phone whilst listening to music though... Unless you want wireless charging.

I can honestly say I have never charged my phone while listening to music since I had a Galaxy S1.
Actually I had smartphones before that, I can't remember what they were now, it's just that the S1 sounded really good with a certain patch and Poweramp.

One of the leak news sources says Samsung is keeping the 5.1 and 5.5" display size, obviously the screen to bezel ratio will be pretty rad. I'm happy with that, S7 series screen size, no bezels, display imprinted fingerprint sensor and display integrated home button.

Nice!

The side bezels are already slim enough, it's the top and bottom bezels I'm on about. Nobody types with the phone sideways.

As for charging while listening to music, I can't think of a single situation where charging would be hindered when listening to music via a C to 3.5mm adapter. All scenarios where this would be a thing points to the inconvenience. The logical solution is Qi wireless charging for desktop listening while charging.

Alternatively a C to dual C output dongle, so one for power, one for headphones/whatever else.

Android users will have more options to play with here than what iPhone 7 owners have currently because of the open nature of the Type-C connection and support from the OS for these connection options.

It's mostly a non-issue being turned into an issue by people who fear change. The iPhone crowd did the exact same thing, and now most of them rock the 7.

Here we go again... Dongles! More things people have to buy in order to maintain useability of their device!
Fact is some people do actually listen to music and charge their phone. It's great that you don't but people are different.
I often listen to music in the office and plug my phone in an hour before I leave to top it up. I'm sure other people have different scenarios...
Apple admitted they couldn't engineer the 7 to have waterproofing and a 3.5 inch socket so it was left out. If they are to be believed it wasn't intentional yet now in typical fashion Samsung are sheeping along to whatever apple do and now people try and defend somthing that brings no benefit other than a miniscule increase in battery capacity?

Fact is you can charge and listen at the same time. Fast wireless charging is exactly for that purpose, and a luxury iPhones currently don't have.

Let's face it legacy ports are going to be phased out, and 2017 is the year the 3.5mm will head the direction the DVD drive has in modern PCs/laptops.

Each of the scenarios people have posted against the lack of 3.5mm port has a viable alternative, but they just don't want to hear it. It's the same thing I've read not only on here, but other forums, reddit, tech site comment threads etc.

People will just have to deal with it.

A viable alternative which involves putting your hand in your pocket to remedy a problem which shouldn't exist.

I actually just got rid of my Samsung Fast Wireless Charger, it was serving little to no purpose for me at all. I found that when I needed a quick boost I was plugging in direct anyway and as for when I'm at my desk, a good old regular wireless charger does the job, it trickles in nicely throughout the day.

Just like usb Type c laptops

I'm still rocking my Note 4! And love it! Contract ends in April. Got a mate who works for three. So will be hitting up a sim only. Unlimited everything for like £12pm he gets 50% off!

One scenario with charging whilst using headphones......fapping videos :p

I need to make friends with someone who works at 3! In the same boat, with XDA support I wouldn't be against just continuing with the N4 and this model is brand new from an insurance claim. So for £24 we can get All You Can Eat and Feel at Home?

Well the home button will be in the display, so it's not really going away.

I for one am glad they are finally ditching hardware buttons which I personally hate.

The hardware button was one of my favourite features of most Samsung phones (iPhone for that matter too), same argument as most high end remotes not removing all physical buttons really.
