I like the hardware button simply from the sense that if you have a bezel at the bottom of the phone then you may as well have a physical button there rather than take up space on the screen. But if they're getting rid of the bezel its all good.
 
I've not read any saying it's poor either. Out of all the phones I've had over the years it's loud and clear as them all, enough to watch a HD movie trailer and get enough oomph from, or loudspeaker music for a room.

It might not be boomsound, but it's certainly very good for what it is, a mono speaker, and I'm usually the first to nit pick where audio quality is concerned in av gear.
 
I'm used to a lot better, from my experience it sounds mediocre at best. Single side firing is never going to be anything more than adequate.

Doesn't bother me either way. It's good for what it is, and I can watch YouTube at full volume and enjoy the content. I don't need it to be so loud that it can jukebox a garden party. The only thing that needs to be loud and clear is the standard classic bell ringtone, and that indeed is loud and clear.

Way more important things to be concerned about, like screen quality and battery life!
 
Wow jukebox a garden party... Good one. Because that's what we do...

All that was said is that the speakers could be improved upon, and they can be, drastically.

It's like settling for an average LCD screen when you can have a great OLED one.

mrk your response is a bit odd as you had an Xperia Z3 for ages and that thing has far better speakers than the S7!

We shouldn't just "settle", we should be challenging these companies to make phones with better sound. Sound is half of the media experience after all.
 
I had the Z3 and Z5. I don't think the Z3 speaker was better at all. The S7 edge speaker has more volume and bass, but the Z3 had stereo imaging, and 3D surround. Given the choice, I'd always pick sound punch over stereo quality. While stereo/surround is great, it's the punch that gives better low frequency clarity. The Z3 speaker lacked the bass of the S7, simply put.

The Z5 was worse than the Z3.
 
Mixed opinions

No headphone jack is a pooper. Would probably be put off by this alone if competition has it.
My iems are not wireless (yuck)
I do charge my s7E and listen at same time but I have the wireless qi 2 charger. It's annoying but no deal breaker.

No fingerprint on the home button is good

But id rather a hard home button.

Screen resolution just means more battery cost for me.
5.7in would be ideal if in same chassis size

What I love most about my s7e is its cam and water proofing.
Just got back from Cape Verde and have some amazing shots. Can go in the water and not worry about it getting wet. I obviously don't deliberately submerge it, but I know I can use it.

If the camera gets any better, I might ditch my dslr.
 
I like the physical home button personally, it's the reason I stay with Samsung!
Couldn't give a hoot about the speaker, never use it. Headphone jack is annoying but not the end of the world.
If they basically get rid of the bezels and give it a whopper of a battery then I'll be happy!
 
Nougat adds screen scaling so i assume the full resolution is to be used for VR, otherwise you can choose a much lower resolution. The best audio i've heard from phone speakers was on the zte Axon7, could hear that thing clearly in a different room.
