The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Perhaps you could be more specific, I bet 90% of us here are running FSX on W7 64bit! P3D is essentially FSX and I'd expect many of the same issues to manifest themselves.

I seem to remember issues with Acceleration and also with it crashing.

Vague, I know. It's been a while since I tried.

I should probably just install it again and see what occurs.

Indeed it was a cracking flight. Good to catch up with you all again. ToString, Keep at it the ATC stuff gets easier the more you do and it's not a daunting as it seems, Honest.

Hopefully I wont be off for as long as I was before ;)

Install just FSX to a folder outside of
Code:
program files (x86)
it's generally more friendly to addons if you're running with UAC enabled. Run FSX and do a quick flight before installing Acceleration. Do another quick flight before adding anything else. There are many guides around that recommend this approach. Add HIGHMEMFIX=1 (can't remember the section and not on my FSX PC) to your FSX.CFG and you'll be good to try it all out. With any resent i5/i7 at 3+ GHz it should run very well with the sliders quite the way to the right.

Good luck :)

Well done gents. We finally got there!

I had fun and it's always good doing the VFR thing.

It's taken me ages to get FSX to be 'stable', and there's so many guide and tips that it's worth having another go for those that don't remember it so fondly.

yes a great fun indeed.

I'm about now if you want to fly more?

Plan-G is now sorted on my second machine. Vuvu, I just was missing the box where you enter the IP/port under simconnect. I'll have to read the manual to find out what all the tool can offer. It looks really good though.

glad you got it sorted mate.

Will try it when my desktop finishes downloading this set of games.

Just found a bunch of FS9 screenshots from about 4 years ago. Oh the nostalgia! This was when I flew for the now defunct Simairline.net. Such a cool VA :(

Ok, so got a bit further, and then FSX crashed. This error seems familiar from before

Code:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:	APPCRASH
  Application Name:	fsx.exe
  Application Version:	10.0.61637.0
  Application Timestamp:	46fadb14
  Fault Module Name:	uiautomationcore.dll
  Fault Module Version:	7.0.0.0
  Fault Module Timestamp:	4a5bdb1d
  Exception Code:	c0000005
  Exception Offset:	0000e52a
  OS Version:	6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID:	2057

I recall placing the uiautomationcore.dll in the FSX folder and it making no difference.

Any advice?

Thanks!

EDIT: Seems to have worked this time..

I did have this issue with one install I had, but I had to provoke it somewhat. Mine was fixed by copying an alternative UIAUTOMATIONCODE.DLL. I still have a copy of it if you need it.

A big thanks to all recent posters in this thread for FSX. This weekend was positively buzzing with activity.

We had some great new pictures. Our first 2013 multi-player (2+) flight on VATSIM and lots of people reviving their interest in FSX which is now about 7 years old.

We're all here to help and don't mind answering any related questions to flight-simming.

This week, I'm about Tuesday and Thursday and maybe somepoint over the weekend for some more flying.

For those that have bought planes and need tutorials (737 NG, ATR-72, Avro 146), those that are new or want to start on VATSIM, those that want to learn VOR/NDB approaches or those that are happy to take the Cessna out for a spin, post away and we'll get things organised.

Anyway, here's a nice video found through the AVSIM forums..
