The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Hi all,
I've recently took a big interest in flight sims and i'm looking and getting a joystick and throttle:)
What's the best i can get for around £50?
Had a quick look but everyone seems to be out of stock and i'm looking at ordering tomorrow.
Had a quick look at the Speedlink black widow but it looks really cheap.
Massive thanks to anyone that helps;)

I've had a logitech extreme 3d pro for at least 5 years now and its pretty good (and still in production!). Has a ton of buttons, hat switch, twist rudder and throttle, feels quite sturdy and the spring is soft but snappy (if that makes sense...). One thing to mention is that the potentiometers do wear out after a while on this model which means opening it up and cracking open the pots to clean them out every 1-2 years. But it usually works just fine again after. I read something a while back about later revisions using digital pots which solved the wearing issue but i don't know much about it. Seems to go for around £35-40.

Alternatively I have my eye on the Saitek cyborg FLY5, mainly for the twin throttles and the trim wheel. Not quite as many buttons of the extreme 3d but apparently there's some software trickery that makes some of them double up. Can't comment on the feel or build quality as I've never tried it. Seems to be hovering around the £40 mark at the moment.

Thanks pal,
Looks very good;) Will it work with games other than fsx? such as Arma 3 etc.

Thanks for the advice!, i'll take a lot at this too:D

Not sure if this has been posted, but quite a detailed look at the new pmdg 777:

I'm sure going to love messing around with the ram air turbine and jettisoning fuel everyone :D

After downloading the T7, I went onto install it. (It'd be rude not to). I also used up some remaining NavData credits and bought the latest Cycle for all my 'fleet' that needed it.

I loaded it up, just to have a quick look. Had a quick look. It looked good. Saw a miserable frame rate and then logged off and got back into bed before the wife finds out I've spent £60 before 7am this morning.

I'm now in work, and it's 'date-night' tonight, so no playing on FSX until tomorrow evening.

Nice one mate. Thats two to learn then. :) Tempted to get it but I'm I going to fly it that much? Saying that, I'm sure I will have it by close of play today :p

Oh yes Blue, if you out tonight, let me take it for a test flight for you and see if its worth all the fuss :D

I'll leave the keys behind the sun visor.. :p

I doubt I'll be doing any transatlantic flights, although Vatsim's 'Cross the Pond - Eastbound' is on October 12th.

There's plenty of UK airfields that can support it for my kind of flying including Cardiff and Glasgow. It's going to be a Short-Hop Heavy.

This is my first PMDG product and with all the hype, I felt obliged to buy it.
