The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

enjoyed watching your stream while at work yesterday vuvuzela, wish I could have had sound on though :( I did miss the landing as had to deal with people....blah lol

I also managed to get some practice in the old cessna last night (first time in a while), been working on trimming as im still rubbish at it. Also watched a load of aviator90 tutorial videos that someone recommended a while ago. They are very informative.

I see JustFlight have a holding page for Revolution-X :)

Looking good. Shame I haven't minimal space left on my SSD for any more purchases.

And as for trimming. It makes more sense when you feel the effect in a real world plane such as a Cessna. You can then feel the reduction in the backward pressure on the yoke, therefore reducing your workload in the cockpit.

I still find trimming a bit hit and miss, which I guess is partly down to the simulation and not being able to feel the effects as blue has said below. Not sure how you're setup but I have the trim wheel mapped to a switch on my yoke, which I set to "repeat on hold". If I'm trimming for level flight, I feed in a bit of trim and then start to release pressure on the yoke, if I start to climb I'll hold the yoke at that position and feed in a bit more trim and then release the yoke a bit more. Basically I repeat the process until I'm in level flight. I'm not saying this is the right way of doing it but it works for me (most of the time :D)

So, daft question, but if P3d comes out this Monday and it blows everything away, can PMDG aircraft and FTX Global be installed (maybe in a slightly questionable fashion) and used? Those are the only 2 addons I really care about to be honest, other stuff is only nice like maybe REX.

Also, does anyone run FSX with triple screens? I've heard that it's not ideal, anyone have any setup tips?

This is probably the best way of doing it. Best to do it a small bit at a time, when you think you're trimmed take you're hand completely off the stick/yoke and see if it holds the attitude you want

The T7 will NOT work in P3d. I believe other pmdg stuff can be unofficially made to work in p3d but i don't know about p3d 2.0. Orbx should be releasing a 2.0 compatible installer for FTX global soon (ie, this week).

The Plan:-
To fly a light aircraft, VFR from Aldergrove to East Midlands on Vatsim with you guys.

Plan-G Plan:- [You may need to copy text and resave as a .plg file]
http://www.andrewreader.com/ocuk/VFR%20Aldergrove%20to%20East%20Midlands.plg

PDF Flight Log:- [You can print this and fill in the missing details]

When:-
I can't do Tuesdays, but will try to be as flexible as I can weekday evenings after 7pm and flexible at weekends.

So those that were/are interested, let's have an agreement on a date:-

Friday 29th November
W/C Monday 2nd December (2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th)
W/C Monday 9th December (9th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th)
W/C Monday 16th December (16th, 18th, 19th, 22nd)

Many thanks,

Andrew.

When you run with multiple screens you can use something like ATI Eyefinity to span '1 monitor' across 3 screens.

Or you can use FSX and bring up a new 'screen' with the '[' key, right click, undock and drag across to your other monitor.

Many years ago I tried 3 screens, using a Matrox TripleHead2Go, but I hated the fisheye effect for the wide FOV. I think a bit of a Marmite thing, some people don't mind it but I hated it. It gets worse the wider the aspect ratio is.

Ah - just seen this.

LM re P3D said:
Can you please speak about multiple monitor and multi-PC setup for Home cockpits? What is the maximum number of screens we could have? Currently in FSX. its 3+1.
We’ve delivered training solutions with up to 12 screens. With a lot of the advancements of Prepar3D v2 multiple monitors and screens have less of a performance impact, and we’ve also worked to resolve the ‘fisheye’ effect for wide view screens or views spread across multiple screens. If you have a custom setup like this, we also now let you define the horizontal and vertical FOV yourself in your camera.cfg files, so you can now custom-tune and hand-define your FOV to exactly what you want it to be. This was never possible before in a previous product. We invite folks to look over the v2 learning center in any license of Prepar3D v2 to see just how much customization we have added to Prepar3D.

Thanks mate. It wasn't a great landing. I had everything set-up for landing at rwy30L and then ATC changed it to 12L so it was a little messy.

What time you guys flying later?

I can do a lot of these dates for the OCUK flyin. So I'm really flexible too.

My availability is pretty rubbish due to work commitments. I can only do 7th, 8th, 15th, 19th and 22nd. Understand that you need to go with the majority so I wont be offended if I have to sit this one out :)

I've had a look at the flight plan and see it takes us through a few controlled areas so it looks like there may be quite a bit of ATC if Manchester and IOM are online. I think I'll need to start some practicing!

I have been a little generous. If you look at the planned altitudes, there's a corridor between Liverpool and Manchester that if we stay below 1000 ft, we'll be out of controlled airspace. However, you can always fly higher and request a zone transit from Manchester Radar or cut over Liverpool Radar if they're online.

We will go with the majority on dates, but we can always fly this route again.. :p
