The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Anyone have any ENB/SweetFX configs? I've been playing with them a bit lately but haven't found anything I really like. Also Shade, does anyone use it?

Also, I run triple monitors but I'm sick of FSX stretching the 2 side monitors and basically looking terrible because of it. I'm thinking of just using my middle monitor for VC with the outer monitors for instruments, charts, PFPX etc, but does this mean I need to run FSX in a window? Also any suggestions about useful stuff I can put on my 2 side monitors when I'm flying?

I use a 2 monitor setup on 1 PC.

I run FSX in windowed mode and have things like EZ-Dok, the FMC or relevant controls undocked and put on another window.

On the other PC, I run EFB, REX Weather Engine, Plan-G and do any in-flight web browsing.

Motion blur can't be done in FSX, it must be edited using something like Sony Vegas etc.

Pretty easy to tell from 1:14 onwards when it goes into exterior views that this is not native FSX footage - it's been heavily edited to achieve a "cinematic" look

:p I thought that was an out of focus camera recording at a monitor..

That looks fantastic!

FSX wise, things are super smooth. I've got the sliders adjusted to my photo scenery recommendations. This upgrade has made a massive difference.

I ran some stability tests over the bank holiday weekend. Thankfully, things are now stable.

I did a flight on Vatsim in the Dash 8 from Bristol to Guernsey with ATC all the way. And messed up my approach.

I used to love playing flight sims back in the day - cut my teeth on Chuck Yeager's Air Combat on a 386SX :D

While waiting for Elite Dangerous' next premium beta phase, I've been tinkering around with various flight sims trying to find something worthwhile experimenting with.

I have 3 x 21.5" monitors so Eyefinity is an option. Joystick of choice is the Saitek X45 - a little outdated I know, but still perfectly functional. I also have a DelanClip on the way, been experimenting with FaceTrackNoIR.

So, if you could start fresh with the above set up, what would you download/buy to get properly back in the flight sim world?

Buy yourself a copy of FSX Gold.

You can span your cockpit across the monitors.

Use your joystick.

And that's it for starters.

If you get the bug, then buy new scenery, weather engines, payware planes and get on Vatsim.

What type of planes are you interested in?

Thanks bluetonic - reading around there appear to be graphical issues with FSX and Windows 8.1 (x64), I don't suppose there are any easy pointers on a fix?

It's nearly that time of year again..

The Flight Sim Show at Weston Super Mare Helicopter Museum.

May 17th & 18th

This year will be my 3rd visit. Once as a visitor and twice as a Virtual Pilot, once for Vatsim and this year will be for SevernAir VA.

I'm all back up to speed with FSX now. If you're there, you can take it in turns to drool at my new PC.. :p

So, I've finally got my computer back up and running.

Does someone have a (very) simple guide that will take me through making it run nice and smooth? So far I've managed around 25-30fps but I'm thinking I should be getting a bit more.
