The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

It got to the point that the plane was bouncing up and down all on its own accord all over the place? Has anyone else had this happen?

Yup I've got what seems like the same problem. if I start up with the Dash or even go to it from another aircraft as soon as it loads up it's bouncing around like a thing possesed! Majestic say it's an issue with the Autosave in FSUIPC but I've swicthed that off and it still does it. I'm off for a few days now so I'm going to uninstall it and try re-installing it to see if that fixes the problem.

I have had that happen too when changing aircraft. That one I can't explain at all. It doesn't always do that however. My point was that I think they've made it so that it is actually quite hard to crash the aircraft, as in you can pile it into the runway at a very high rate of decent and the aircraft will not crash. Maybe in real life the undercarriage is as strong as they have modelled it?

Has no one else had the bounce happen on landing? Just like when you load the aircraft if you come in a bit hot it gets into ridiculous bounce but doesn't actually cause the aircraft to crash. Just a tad un-realistic. Maybe a re-install would solve this for me however. I'll give it a whirl.

I've just done two landings at YBHM in the Dash with each at about -750 ftpm didn't get any bounce though....free dental and spinal treatment may be in order though!

I do mean a little more extreme than that. I think one was due to me not noticing my speed and I stalled. Oddly instead of the plane hitting the runway and a 'crash' situation occurring the plane just bounced up into the air crazily and then continued to bounce like this until it had slowed. I have my realism setting at 100%, crash detection on etc and with any other aircraft this would have resulted in a crash. The other time it happened was when I landed a little too fast, bounced, dumped the throttle which of course made the aircraft drop hard and then off it went again dancing around like Tigger on steroids without ending in a crash situation. It does seem like the Dash 8 does have extremely tough undercarriage.

I'll try the re-install method and see if that sorts it all out for me.

Bit sceptical myself but a rumour coming out of AVSIM is

AVSIM is being told by multiple sources that Microsoft, after years of dickering and sometimes murky intentions, has sold the license to the FS franchise. We are not able to name our sources, but we can say they are authoritative and have been involved at various times in pursuing acquisition of this license. We can also tell you that the licensee is not one that we would have thought to have been a logical candidate in terms of direct knowledge of the product, leading us to conclude that this licensee had the deepet pockets. We will be providing more news on this story as it develops. We look forward to an official announcement at the E3 coming this week.

Yeah I noticed that so I've got a page open and ready in my browser for this

It's 9:30 PT which I thought was 8 hours difference so I think it'll be at 5:30BST. Probably check at 4:30 just in case I've got that wrong.

Yes you right mate thats about 5.30UK

Let's just hope it's not EA :D

I agree about EA and Ubisoft!

I don't think it will be Lockheed Martin but maybe. It's just the way AVSIM have worded that paragraph, that makes me feel its going to be a big surprise!

My trusty Dell U2311H died on me over the weekend so at the moment I’m back to using a very old 17” screen. Ordered a new Dell U2414H from overclockers last night but whilst checking whether I had warranty on my current Dell I noticed my PC is approaching 4 years old now and instead of my shopping basket being only £190 it ended up being £736! Oops.

So as well as having a monitor on its way I have a Gigabyte GTX780 and a Samsung EVO 250gb SSD on its way to me too. I’m hoping the graphics card will fit in my case otherwise that’ll be another purchase I’ll have to make. So quick question on my setup for FSX. I’m going to have the 250gb SSD as my boot drive and was thinking of installing FSX and my other few main games onto it. I already have an OCE Vertex 2 160gb SSD in my system. I will use this for other games and programs.

The big question is is it still wise to install things like REX onto a separate drive to your FSX install when using SSDs? If so this isn’t an issue as like I say I’ll put the main FSX install onto the Samsung and the other bits onto the OCE Vertex.

After all of this I’m just hoping my motherboard and cpu don’t cause too much of a bottleneck to the graphics card and hard drives. I only have my i7 at 4.0ghz although I’ve had it stable at 4.2ghz in the past however clocked it back a bit as my system is air cooled and I thought it’d prolong the cpu life a little.

Thanks for any thoughts on my above questions.

I have REX installed on a 2nd PC, so I'm sure installing it onto a 2nd drive shouldn't be an issue.

Some aircraft and sceneries will have a problem being installed outside the FSX folder..

Talking of installing things on a 2nd HD has anyone got any ideas about the performance when using junctions (specifically via mklink /j ?)

Tried this on a friends laptop when his HD became full and now his FSX loading performance is awful. The old drive is a spinner, the new drive with the actual files on a mSata drive!

And Blue it's not just you it seems the notification emails these days are pretty hit or miss :(
