The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Talking of installing things on a 2nd HD has anyone got any ideas about the performance when using junctions (specifically via mklink /j ?)

And Blue it's not just you it seems the notification emails these days are pretty hit or miss :(

I'm running my FSX on my 'F:\' drive using symbolic linking. It's a 120 GB SSD that is nearly out of space.

Has no one else had the bounce happen on landing? Just like when you load the aircraft if you come in a bit hot it gets into ridiculous bounce but doesn't actually cause the aircraft to crash. Just a tad un-realistic. Maybe a re-install would solve this for me however. I'll give it a whirl.

The Dash-8 has quite a bit of flex on the landing gear. I'm sure there's better examples out there.

I don't think it will be Lockheed Martin but maybe. It's just the way AVSIM have worded that paragraph, that makes me feel its going to be a big surprise!

That would be the obvious choice yeah. I did notice in the DCS world thread on here some developers part of the group that made IL-2 (I think?) have now stopped their involvement in a project with DCS so could possibly be them? Who knows, I dread to think of the price tag Microsoft would put on the FS license rights...

So new graphics card installed and I renamed my fsx.cfg to force FSX to rebuild. I have a slight issue however. My aircraft and scenery and well basically everything is a bit messed up.

Any ideas of any other cfg files I should delete? I haven't installed the new SSD yet, when I do I'll reinstall fsx but I'd like to be able to fly in FSX until I get around to that.

Ignore my thread above. I needed to put ALLOW_SHADER_30=1 back into the cfg as I have the shader mod. Think I'll leave that one out next time though when I re-install.

One thing that is strange is that running with the FPS locked at 30fps in the fsx.cfg file and forcing 1/2 refresh rate through nvidiaInspector does not provide as smooth a flight sim experience as locking at 60fps and having vsync enabled. I don't know why, just seems to be the case now even when the FPS is down at around 25. KSEA is still a killer though I hope once my OS and FSX are re-installed onto a decent SSD instead of the OS on an SSD and FSX on a spinner things will be a bit better too.

We have now heard directly from reliable sources, who have requested to remain undisclosed, that the ‘franchise’ sold recently by Microsoft is not that of FSX, but rather that of the newer “MSFlight“. We also learned that an official annoucement is to be expected soon, from the purchaser of the license.

This entity, which we are not yet at freedom to divulge, is no stranger to the simulation market. We will, of course, keep you updated as soon as more information becomes available.

Make of that what you will...

I was thinking the same, who would want to buy that? It didn't really work for Microsoft so why would anyone else be able to make it work?

But where did MS go wrong with Flight?

1. Made it too 'arcade-y'
2. Had a micro-payment model to add scenery locations / aircraft
3. Was mainly aimed at beginners / x-box users

Would it be able to be tweaked to use ORBX / PMDG / REX Textures etc?

Would people forget the bad rep so far?

Hmm, although cheaper than the Playsims/Horizon photoscenery I've always been a little disappointed with the Megascenery offerings, never seem quite as sharp and look a bit more washed out. How big is it? England and Wales is like 70-80GB for the Horizon stuff, I suspect this MSE offering will be quite a bit smaller hinting at greater compression.

Sorry if this has been covered. I've just installed an SSD for Windows and certain programs. Obviously space is limited, so should I make FSX one of those? It's going to be a sizeable chunk as I have REX also.

Did the reinstal fix it?

Did the reinstal fix it?

I am holding off on the re-install until I fit my new SSD that is sat here in front of me. Bit of a busy weekend ahead however so that upgrade won't start until one evening next week or the following weekend now.
