The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I'll keep an eye out for the update now, thanks Blue.

I have a new problem too. I noticed the other day that the map which you can see the turbulence, storms etc on in REX essentials isn't loading. I've no idea why. The weather is being injected into the sim. Anyone else who uses REX for weather still had this issue and know how to fix it?

The only thing I've updated / installed recently is the free FSUIPC and I highly doubt that has caused this.

I've had this a few times on my network setup where SimConnect wasn't correctly set up. I would double check the SimConnect xml file or right click on the map and look at the options.

IP addresses all look ok in that file blue. Oddly at certain zoom levels I get part of a map and then it disappears if I change the zoom amount or move the map around. Something must be playing up with the REX files.

I was wondering today, is there any addon out there that adds in turbulance when flying approaches over buildings etc? Rex adds in turbulance due to weather but none caused by what is on the ground. I was just thinking that'd be pretty neat to have if there is an addon that does this.

Sorry Blue, I'm not explaining myself very well. REX injects turbulence just fine however it is generally only in clouds. From my limited experience of flying for real there is generally a little turbulence created by ground objects be it updrafts of wind or thermal activity. These are generally only noticed on approach or departure.

So the addon would have to take into account the land class and temperature / wind direction and apply turbulence accordingly to these. REX doesn't do this as far as I am aware.

It would be good. Every time I've headed into Lahad Datu in an ATR72 on the approach there are a load of shacks that have corrugated metal roofs on and they always make things a little bumpy as you fly over them.

Sometimes landings just feel a little too uneventful and something like this would add a little more to the sim I feel.

I bought the A318/19 upgrade this week. I've installed it and haven't had time to fly yet.

And it's nearly my birthday. So what else does someone who loves planes do?

Flybe (real world) are going to be flying the Dash 8 from Exeter to London City as a scheduled flight. So I'm going hop on that for a ride.

A friend at work has started doing his PPL recently. So jealous. I'm looking at my house deposit savings and resisting the urges at the moment. So looks like it is still sticking to FSX for me :D

A few captures from P3Dv2.4 with Orbx FTX Global 1.30... also using REX4.

Thanks picnic and great pics redline.

I've recently bought Steve's DX10 fixer.

On my recent FSX flight from Exeter to London City, there were a few issues and I ran out of memory just after landing.

The fixer doesn't improve frame rates, but should give me more VAS in and around London. I have the Aerosoft VFR London package.

So I'm in one of those rare FSX 'happy place' moments.

I did a flight from Exeter to London City in the Dash 8 and didn't hear one OOM FSUIPC 'bong'.

This is good because I have UK2000 Gatwick and Heathrow and Aerosoft's VFR London and lots of photo scenery.

This is down to being a little more disciplined with the settings sliders, using NVidia Inspector and DX10 fixer and offloading some bits to a second PC.

I was on Vatsim for the above flight and had an atrocious landing, so went offline shortly after to practice some circuits.

Absolutely love 2.4! It's noticeable faster and less buggy.
