Hi there my fellow simmer, good image.

looks like your using default Fsx cloud textures, i definately recommend purchasing Rex 2.0, it's a tool for sky/water/cloud textures. Cloud textures are in 3d/HD, but what the developers of rex have cleverly done is taken a photo snapshot of a cloud for example : a developing thundercloud and inject it into FSX,

Cheers. Thing is, I have REX 2.0! Must not have it set up right. Just remembered this img is 6 months old and was probably taken with my old 256mb ATI card. I'll have to check my REX settings, I'm not sure it's currently looking as good as yours.

Can anyone recommend which AI package to go for?

I tried Ultimate Traffic 2 last night and was appalled at how bad it is. I was at London City on the runway and a Bombardier Dash 8 was taxing up to the runway and was told to hold short of the runway by the ATC.

I thought let's hold things up a bit and see what happens. So I sat on the runway for 5 minutes - when all of a sudden the Bombardier Dash 8 simply disappeared! It just vanished.. What a joke!

What AI are you using?
 
Hello all, I'm rather new to fsx, this being my first (Microsoft) flight simulator game and I'm having a LOT of fun.

I have just downloaded a freeware addon aircraft the IFly 747-400. I'm having trouble with it, the exterior doesnt work at all! This for me is a great shame as the 747 is my favorite aircraft. All I see is a blank white plane canvas.

I have installed FSUIPC4 that was included with the download, I also tried the most recent version but it gave the same result IE the exterior isn't showing. There have been some service packs released but the download link on avsim isn't there anymore.

I would please like to have some assistance in getting this add on to work, I love the 747 and I'm sure this addon would get a lot of playtime if I got it to work.

Well as previously advised in this very thread it was dx10 mode that was causing the issue.

Disabled dx10 and it works like a charm :)

That is deliberate you know, as the AI in FSX is known to get 'stuck' on another AI aircraft, deadlocked at a taxiway, etc. If they don't disappear after a few minutes you potentially end up with a gridlocked airport.

It does work OK most of the time though.

I see what you mean but just found it a little annoying. I remember back to the days of flight unlimited when I used to grid lock an airport for fun :D

On a more serious note I am having a terrible time with FSX at the moment. I am getting crashes galore and can't fly for more than 10 minutes at best.

I think I have pinned it down to REX but I am not certain, hell could be Ultimate Traffic 2.

I am experiencing NTDLL.DLL and uiautomationcore.dll crashes.. one more to add to the list BEX error also.. all crash to the desktop!

Seriously annoying the hell out of me... Looks like I am going to have to uninstall everything and start from scratch to figure out what is causing these errors as at the moment I am stabbing in the dark.

Google the uiautomationcore.dll issue as this is common'ish problem. Sadly I didn't bookmark it when I experienced it on a regular basis, sorry :(
 
Running Win7 (64bit)

Right I have reinstalled FSX (SP 2) and have only installed two addons: GEX and UTX both are running up to date versions.

I thought things were going ok then BOOM.. BEX crash to desktop. :mad:

Hey picnic, after some previous reading today it seems the uiautomationcore.dll problem is kinda easy to fix. Just need to delete all traces of uiautomationcore.dll.. there are 3 I believe.

Yet this BEX (buffer overflow exception) is a total pain in the arse to correct from what I have read so far, as it seems like no one has the solution. Some are blaming hardware (internal sound card). MS say to scan for virus and spyware and they also say to switch off antivirus software before launching FSX.

All of which I have tried.

(My system also isn't over clocked at the moment to fault find this FSX problem.)

It seems like the fault lies when using a 64bit OS with FSX.. perhaps?

FSX is seriously a buggy POS :(

Would be glad to hear other suggestions to try.

I got the 707, pretty much the only one I didn't get in the xmas sale :D Had a quick go and its a pretty nice a/c. well worth 9.99euros
