Thanks for the pics! Lovely.
I have just installed FSX and the acceleration pack. Obviously it looks rough round the edges, could someone give me a brief headsup on what I should consider installing to bring this up to scratch looks/feel wise?

Also I am seriously considering investing in a TrackIR of sorts, is "5" the latest?

Last but not least, I am a total novice at FSX. Any recommendations as to what I should plow into first? Perhaps the lessons?

Thanks.

Definitely worth doing the lessons, they helped me a lot then do some free flight. Best to get used to the sim before expanding.

Thanks uk_viper.
When you say "before expanding" do you mean investing in addons/extra hardware etc?

Also did you read through all the material that accompanies each of the lessons? I started reading some of them and although its a bit of a chore, theyre quite informative. Would be nice if they we're transcribed or ported over to PDF somewhere.

Yes that's exactly what I mean, I haven't read through the material myself, depends really on how deep you want to get into it i guess

I think you're absolutely right and will follow this.

But as a point of discussion, could you clarify what i would "eventually" need when I do start playing more seriously (upon completing lessons etc).

uk_viper - I've had a Saitek X52 sitting in the cupboard waiting to be used with FSX so Im covered from that angle :)

ringo747 - Ive not clicked the link yet, but how does that work exactly? Does it bench your system or something?

The game defaulted everything to max, but I noticed other sections like the "mesh size/textures" we're not maxed out.

I came on MSN earlier but you we're not on Hex.

Back OT...

I read that the Trackclip Pro thats used with headsets has to be powered by USB which sounds a bit poo.

What are users experiences on here of Trackclip Pro? Or would you just use the bog standard trackclip that goes over caps?

I have a trackclip pro and is very good at what its used for however it is usb and the cable is actually rather short and can get very annoying at times, also the problem i found is that its rather flimsy aswell. There are three prongs on the trackclip pro that hold it into place but due to all the pulling and the cord getting tangled round it a lot, it now no longer stays in the clip securly and often can fall out if the wire catches it.

I would reccomend it but make sure you do some sort of cable management that comes off the trackclip pro.

If I can be honest, it sounds a bit of a faf Lodgey. I dont have a "over the head" headset, just one of round the back of the head type.

Another USB cable really does make it sound a bit messy also.

Actually its rather good most of the time, It has it problems but the cable is thin and reasonably long. Yes the clip is a little delicate but it is light. so as ever a modicum of care and your sorted. Its definatly a large improvement over the hat clip reflector. As ever you pays your money etc. If It was me with the cash Id have a full motion 6DOF sim but hey.....

Biggest problem with the clip is large amounts of ambient light. Its only £20 ish so worth a try.

I bought the Pro clip but once I started using a baseball cap it wasn't used again. It's just easier having less cables as said ^. Headset cable and Proclip cable kept getting snagged and it was tres annoying.

So who else is hoping to buy the 737NGX from PMDG when IT IS RELEASED TOMORROW?

I really cannot wait to get this addon. It looks absolutely immense. From tomorrow flight simulation will reach a new level I'm sure.
