The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I personally would get FTX Global first, as it will cover the whole world. That means anywhere you decide to fly will look much better than default. If you want to fly mostly in Europe, you can then look into Orbx OpenLC Europe which is added onto FTX Global and will improve the landclass in the Europe area.

The freeware Orbx Pacific NorthWest demo in my previous post will give an idea to Orbx's quality.

You can also look into the GEX (Ground Environment X) addons at Flight1. They are split into regions (Europe, USA etc).

If you want to fly only in set areas, for example the UK, you can look into Orbx FTX England, Scotland, Wales. These have handcrafted autogen, landclass and updated default airports.

If you want to try freeware, you could try these:

I have never tried these before but they seem to improve the colour of the default textures.

Anyone else here using FSPassengersX? It's a great addon, not too expensive. It allows you build up a career/airline, as well as adding in flight service, co-pilot actions, etc. Also adds in customisable failure rates.

I was just flying from Hong Kong to Osaka in a Cathay 777-200, had an engine failure about 1 hour in, had to declare an emergency after failing to get the engine to start again and land in Taiwan. Certainly adds a bit of variation. Another time, we blew a tire landing and had to evacuate the aircraft on the runway.

So many freewares.. I'm gonna need another HDD :D

@Michael, I did look into it, as well as FScaptain both seem good. I'll probably buy one every few months or so (of the payware) so I don't overspend, because that's easily done for me.

When I started using FSX, FSPassengers was one of the first addons I purchased for it. I remember at first being frustrated that all my landings were too hard causing my tires to blow.

One of my more memorable flights was from Stansted to Frankfurt-Hahn. Part way over the channel I received a bird strike. Within a few seconds my right engine failed so I attempted an emergency landing at Schiphol. The fun part was when FSX ATC told me to go around as there was an aircraft on the runway. I managed to land safely, besides blowing a tire again.

I'll give it a shot, I honestly still haven't completed a route..

I don't do a full flight as it were. Just start on runway, throttle up and fly.

I've found a Boeing 737 operation manual catered to FSX so i will attempt a cold start from a gate.. eeep!

I tried installing the 737 upgrade, but i had to change the installation folder as it defaulted to my SSD. Where would I place the files please? I tried the 737 after installing but noticed no changes, no wipers etc.

Thank you!

Yes, the above screenshots are using FTX Global for general ground textures.
The airports in the above screenshots are Aerosoft Keflavik and Erfurt, Orbx EGHI Southampton with FTX England and Drzewiecki Design Moscow Sheremetyevo X.

You might need to sign up for the REX forums to see this post, but the ENB I have used is called NaturalENB and can be found here:
http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.co...opic/14771-natural-enbplus-download-included/

Dappo, how do I install the ENB mask for FSX that you mentioned above? Is there a special version of ENB files that I need to install into the FSX directory?
