The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Fair enough - must try that. I did an autoland on it before although I didn't finish the approach (freeze issues) but must have had a very narrow intercept heading which was close enough to runway heading.

Overhead VAGO, Goa, inbound for landing.

Finals, No autoland this time!

At the stand, I'll let the ground crew pump the gas ;)

On the road to Mandalay (VYMD)

A bit on the wet side tonight!

Positive rate, gear UP!

Just so you know the lights do work :D

Just did the same thing again tonight, in LNAV and VNAV and then forgetting to switch from this to APP. Well actually I did hit APP but it seems you have to de-select LNAV and VNAV otherwise it will stay active. I had 2500 set in the MCP altitude window so she stopped descending below this. Managed to land safely this time!

its ok if your in LNAV and VNAV but its LOC then APP then BOTH autopilots :D If your autolanding that is :D I'm at FL250 and descending into Mandalay as I type :D

I think my MCP alt setting meant I missed the G/S capture and APP was possibly armed but didn't become active as I was well out of the G/S path.

At which point do you normally enable LOC?

soon as I'm turning towards the runway fixes or just before 10nm out. If your Autolanding remember to make sure both AP are armed before 800ft :D its not hard once you've shot a few approaches. :D Fly out from a runway and do a circuit around and come back to land rather than set up a flight plan and have it go south..... Just set up an arrival in the CDU so its got the fixes and you should be fine :D

Its all in the details and that's what makes the PMDG 737 NGX so stunning!

Normally that is what I have done but I must just have missed something. I had to cross a certain waypoint at 2500 and leaving that setting there will have made me miss the ILS. It really is a great machine. Did a flight from Manchester up to Aldergrove tonight there - it is beautiful in every way.

One of the reasons for the around the world trip is to get a feel for the aircraft. next I want to start work on the procedures and see if I can manage them when there planned and then have them happen randomly :D ETOPS one engine mid atlantic........

Soon as I start working again theres a few things on the 'to buy' list

I think I'll get the Saitek pro yoke, quadrants and rudder pedals. Then I think I'll see about the engravity MCU with a couple of the saitek radio modules in the short term.

Defiantly going to try and get the PMDG manuals before they go out of print though.

What I am going to do pretty quick is resubscribe to the nDac charts. Somehow I managed to lose my previous charts in the period I was not flying and playing WoW = Annoyed lol

Almost at the end of the road to Mandalay (VYMD)

If you look you can see that the runway is offset from the database so I disconnected the Autopilot and landed manually.

At the gate, shutting down,

Aircraft turned around, Re provisioned and fueled departing for VTBD, Bangkok Intl (Thailand)

Sunrise over Myanmar.

So you guys enjoying the shots of my around the world trip? Want more ?

Keep the shots coming. Nice spec there although I was mainly asking about your controllers. I have the CH Products yoke and also a Sidewinder FF stick. I tend to use it more than the yoke. I don't have pedals as I stuck them on ebay a while ago. I think the Saitek yoke looks better but not sure how it 'feels'.

I am thinking of a system upgrade fairly soon but will probably wait until MS Flight comes out first. I have an i5 running at 4Ghz at the moment which runs FSX pretty good but I have a feeling that changing from ati to nvidia could be a cheaper option than a full spec update.

That's pretty cool idea having a round the world trip. Gives it a bit of direction. I have me a new monitor coming so will see if my rig can handle 2560x1440 on fsx

Guys I have just downloaded 757 captain and 727 captain from the justflight store, after reading the great reviews.

I haven't flown with them yet, I've had a look at them though - the exterior models don't seem very good compared to my CLS 747.

It's not a big issue for me but a good quality exterior does help me to feel immersed, and these models aren't quite up to scratch in my opinion.

Anyone else tried these addons and want to share their thoughts?

Im using a Saitek yoke which feels great, cant compare it to the CH as I have never owned one, however the sperate throttle quadrant is fun and you can even get them as seperates for more axis, Also a set of saitek rudder pedals that are ok but have a very "notchy" center.

Im going to start an australia tour tonight i think, either that or continue my pointless short haul flights from Gatwick to manchester on vatsim!

The short haul stuff is probably the best as it keeps you busy. On the longer stuff I tend to just let it sit there and do it's thing. Must get back on VATSIM. Haven't logged anything in ages.

Yeah, I agree, and Gatwick is soo busy at the moment on VATSIM which is great, yesterday they had Delivery, Ground, Tower and approach online, and there must have been 10 aircraft waiting for departure clearance, some arrivals..and a few VFR`s in the circuit.

It was great :)

ringo,

I went from a HD6850 to an GTX 570 on a i7-920 @ 4.2GHZ

The difference was huge, I can now throw allsorts of AA and supersampling at it and it hardly touches the framerate.

The difference in IQ is huge!
