Your tempting me! Did you use the shader model fix for ATI cards? I can get decent FPS from the 5850 with the tweaks but as soon as you load an addon airport it drops badly. I'm back to messing with my tweaks again first before making any upgrade decisions.

Yes mate I did, but had quiet a few issues with it, I still couldnt get good image quality though. With Nvidia inspector you can ramp up the supersampling and get great IQ in the VC

Looks good. I have my setup running pretty sweet now and it is almost stutter free but the FPS are around low 20s. A few more tweaks and I might get it sorted. Might try the UsePools=0 tweak again and see if it makes any difference.
 
You know what I hate? I hate when you start your descent for landing and your 25 ish miles out at just over 3000' and FSX has a fatal error at the end of a near 4 hour flawless flight.........









So it's smile nicely and restart the flight, at least this time its in daylight :D

Indeed but it does not help when your flying online in real time with a VA module that tracks fuel and weight to the nth degree and you cant replicate the weight at the time of the crash because 59 seconds since the last save have elapsed and the weight is different from the recorded amount in the addon.lol

Its all part of the game I'm afraid :D Sometimes it bites :D
 
Some of those VA clients are beyond ridiculous in what they expect from you. There was one I used to fly with that would penalise you if landing lights weren't turned on/off within 100ft of passing 10,000. There's plenty of scenarios where you wouldn't do that in the real world. I just fly with BAV not as i find them to have the best software, as well as being the most professionally run VA out there imo. They have no problem with you resuming flights after a cdt ect.

Not had the chance to get the NGX online myself though yet as I've been plagued with the panel freeze problem. Hopefully hotfix 3 will have sorted it.
 
Well I'm sure you'll be suitably impressed when you get the chance to take your first flights in the NGX, its not a lie to say PMDG have raised the bar considerably.
 
I have been having a lot of CTD issues lately but getting rid of the ENB mod seems to have helped quite a bit. Apparently it can cause problems for some people. Also I always use menu-full screen to switch between windows. Alt-Enter is known to cause issues for W7 users. The latest hotfix helped things for me a lot for the NGX.

I've got the NGX and am loving it, just that I haven't had her on vatsim as of yet due to the panel freeze issues. It looks like it was a problem with memory saturation in certain areas, but seems to have been fixed for me with the last hotfix as I've managed to complete a few flights today, trouble free.

P.S. Quick question - are most people running with DX10 preview? Even with the flashing airport textures and lack of progressive taxi (even if it is cheating...)

If your referring to my Around the World Progress then there's more to come shortly, I've been having a little bit of trouble on decent into YMML as FSX just quits with a CTD. so I've decided to fly into Adelaide then I'll nip over and see the Neighbors in YMML at the end of an hours flight instead of a 4 hour one going wrong :D I've flown in 4 times with different settings and each time at the end of the 4 hours its died....... So I did a test flight into SBRJ Rio and its all fine so It has to be the scenery at YMML. Hence nip into YPAD and then try again or if I have to I'll go to someplace else and leave YMML out. There's been a few other technical issues that warranted me doing the 4 hour flights to test those as well. I'm not so daft as to keep flying for 4 hours each time for it to crash with out doing something different ;) I think I've got it sorted now.

As for DX10 preview, Don't. There's no benefit with FSX and the problems from it are legion......
