The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

i've got a weird problem which i just noticed, the ground textures are blurry and only rendered in high quality when the airplane is close to them ie in close vicinity...wtf?

Go into your FSX.CFG file and change the LOD_RADIUS from 4.5 to 6.5. Also, what are your FSX settings, and what Anti-Aliasing/AF do you use, and how do you force it? In regards to your FSX settings, do you have FPS set to unlimited?

lod radius is set at 6.5 , AA/AF is (ati card) 4X/4X and fsx settings are

fps is set at 60

You shouldn't get an FPS drop by putting AF to 16x, but it should improve blurries. Also, do you see a difference locking your frames to 30 as opposed to 60? On some systems there's a night and day difference in blurred textures between 30 locked FPS and 60.

No problems.

I flew out of EGPH to EICK on VATSIM.

I ran into a problem I forgot about. I couldn't climb past FL210.

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/344335-problem-with-fsinn-on-vatsim/

I disconnected from VATSIM, disabled weather updates in FSINN and now all seems fine.

SO... I cutoff my left engine over the Irish Sea and followed the procedure to fly with one engine. The autopilot is taking care of business.

I might be online late Friday or Saturday Afternoon or late evening.

There are so many things in that video that are just plain wrong I'm surprised Baltic put their name to it. I understand it's been uploaded more for entertainment value as it's being flown single crew (which may explain some of the errors) but some of the things done are far from Boeing SOP.

On a lighter note my my new toys arrive today so as long as the build goes well I should have FSX running on it before the weekends out. I'll try my best to get online with you gents either over the weekend or early next week depending on how carried away I get with all my addons.

I've never seen the Boeing SOP or any SOP so I can't comment. I like his videos and he's got a cool job. :)

With regards to SOP, doesn't it differ from airline to airline, even for the same aircraft?

And get building. :D This week was quiet for online flying, so I hope it picks up this weekend or next week.

Hi mate,

He's certainly having fun that's for sure. Thats why i mentioned that i thought the video was for entertainment more than information.

The SOP thing is a bit of a can of worms, basically Boeing (airbus or whoever) outline the procedures for the safe operation of thier aircraft. Airlines can and do tweak these to a certain degree when they create thier SOPs. They don't tend to be hugely different from the manufacturers ones though.

When I've got the new toy built we can have a chat online about it if you like. On that note the DPD guys delivered just 3 minutes into their estimated delivery window, shame I can't dive into the build right now as I've got work this afternoon. Rest assured tomorrow is a day of and I have only one thing planned ;)

Yes I'd have thought the same - each airline will have their own procedures and processes. This guy is a member of the VA I fly with. Some great videos he does.

They do but I doubt any would suggest engaging the autopilot before cleaning up after an engine failure after takeoff. That doesn't happen on the 733 until after acceleration and clean up. With two engines it's normal to engage the autopilot at 1000' agl.

The video is just for entertainment though not information as can be seen by him flying it single crew and calling continue on the engine failure before V1.

Doesn't your company have a sickness policy? :D

Actually I retract that, I can't condone that behaviour.. :o

All, As for ATC

You're not allowed to broadcast UK ATC, so the nearest thing we have is Ireland. So do a search for EIDW or EINN and have a listen to the real world.

Yes missed flying with you guys too. It’s turned out to be quite a busy week and I only got on after 10 each night. I’m defiantly around tomorrow evening and Sunday evening.

Hopefully we can do something?

On another note. I flew into London City with a 600. I was coming in a little too fast. Didn’t quite hit the TDZ so I over shot the runway a bit(didn’t crash:p) Going try again and see if I can land it perfectly next time.

The GS is funny coming into LC, you catch it quite close to the runway and then all of a sudden you descend really quickly.

I may be about tonight depending on if the wife sorts her friend coming over.

Saturday - I could probably do 11am - 2pm, after the NZ v IRE if that's anygood to anyone.

Then the crucial RSA v ENG kicks off at 4pm.

As for EGLC, turn on the visible Glideslope to see the decent. If you watch real City landings on YouTube, it looks great fun.

Might be worth ensuring you're fully configured, gear down F40 before intercept. You should find with all the drag it's easier to keep the speed under control despite the 5.5 deg slope.

The "annoying" thing about the 737NG though is it increases the idle thrust when the gear is down to make TOGAs easier and safer.

I was about tonight mate, but my neighbour told me this morning that she is having a party. It's going to be too noisy for my little one, so we are going to go stay at some friends. :(

I can’t tomorrow during the day, we renovating our new place. Only stopping to watch the rugby, so hence why I'm only available in the evening. So any time after 7 would be great. Sunday I should be around too in the afternoon/evening.

How do you turn on the visible Glideslope to see the decent. I should really know this by now! Haha

I thought I was?? But saying that, I only had flaps at 30, but my speed on the mcp was still at 165tks. I did a video, I will try load up and you can see what I did?

That would be good mate. What weight was you at? 165 sounds high to me and would have given you a vertical speed of around 1600f/min, that's GPWS territory.

Yes I know way to fast... I did drop it quickly as I was coming in. Not sure about weight, where can you check that please?

Hit INIT REF on the CDU. When airborne that will bring up the landing data page. Your gross weight is in the top left of the screen. On the right side of the screen is the Vref speed for the various landing flap settings at this current weight.
