The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

So V and I have cracked the sharing a cockpit on VATSIM.

Not much in the way of South West ATC on tonight.

But if anyone else once a go, we'll be back online tomorrow evening.

Wow I'm a good pilot!!....:p ;)

I must be using the wrong settings on REX, my clouds don’t look as good as that

Which theme do you use mainly? Even when I choose thunderstorms I don’t have many clouds?

It was a good takeoff.

Erm... I'm not that good with Rex. I think I chose a 'random theme'.

EGGD looks better on my screen than in the video.

I'm not sure weather it overrides the 'amount/distance of clouds' settings in FSX. I can look later.

I followed a link from the AVSIM site this morning and found this tasty plane:

http://www.realairsimulations.com/legacy_overview.php?page=legacyfsx_overview

Has anyone any experience with this company or its planes?

Realair sims make great addons. They were the first company to produce a flight model that actually spins like a real aircraft. In FSX I have their sf260, Duke and
Citabria aircraft. All are great quality, definitely a company for those who like to 'fly' their aircraft more than anything else. Thanks for the heads up I'll probably treat myself to the lancair.

I like the look of the two Dukes. Actually they all look nice. Might hold off for a bit though as I've ordered the ATR and I still want a bigger plane. So still deciding which one. Just want to try them all :D

Chaders are you a real pilot? Blue and I were discussing this last night? :)

Yeah I'm a first officer on the 737-300. We'll chat about it on mumble I'm sure. You guys flying tonight? I've not got all my addons installed but FSX is running well enough for a gamespy session (still need to decide on Fsinn or SB for vatsim)

We thought you might be. Good stuff.

We did arrange to fly tonight so going to try my best. Got somebody coming around which I forgot about. Might be a little after 8 though. So hopefully can get in a hour or so with you guys.

Tuesday- I’m around
Wednesday – on but after 10.
Thursday – I’m around
Should be around the weekend too.

Oh yes, Vatsim-UK have got group training tonight if anybody is keen. They doing Charts & Approaches. I can’t make it unfortunately. It starts from 6.30 to 7.15. It might be too late but you just have to log into Vatsim-uk.co.uk using your Vatsim details. Then click RTS system, choose pilot from the 5 /6 options. Once you get a confirmation you can then book the training. It might be too late already but give it a try.

I also see that VAtsim-UK are doing a “Live” event in Luton this weekend. £20 quid for the day this includes, Internet, Power and Lunch, just have to take along your rig.

Edit. I use SB, Fsinn just plays up too much. I know Blue doesn't have any issues so not sure.

In FSX the ATC calls altitude in feet right? When i want to change altitude in auto pilot the knob displays meters. Is there a setting somewhere that i can change so the knob displays feet. At the moment i'm using my distance covertor on my phone to work it out...lol

Go to your FSX settings and general. You should have "Unit of measure" to "hybrid". As far as I know, the only area in the world which uses meters instead of feet is Russia.

I use FSINN. I can't remember it being difficult to set up, but I was setting up and reading dozen of things a day at the time, so it's a bit of a blur.

I saw the VATSIM live event, but can't attend.

I have been to 2 geek virtual flying open days and have got lots from it.

Tuesday- Possibly a short flight somewhere
Wednesday – possibly not.
Thursday – Can do a later one as a/l on Friday!
I'm not about this weekend - wedding to go to.
