The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Good vid, they talk so quick. How did you know that is a lancair? Unless you saw it on the title?:p

Going to try spend some time on the ATR tonight, hopefully we can use them tomorrow.

Have you found the missing font for the ATR? If not I can email it to you.

Blue mentioned something about missing font. That would be great thanks. Will send you a trust.

I also had a nightmare adding the new paint work....

I think in the next week or so, I'm going to rebuild my rig too. It's just not running 100%. I bought an extra ssd, so going to have one for boot up and then one just for fsx.

Ahh sorry mate, I thought the font was still in my hotmail. I'm back home on Friday, if you haven't found it by then I'll email it from my proper rig.

It's been a while since I last posted some fresh new screen shots, but here are some, I do hope you enjoy them.

Soya...great shots. What textures are you using for your terrain?

Stevie I still need to help you with the default 737 which comes with fsx. I will be on and off this weekend if you about, we can go through it together and will show you a ILS landing too?

Blue – I’m keen to try the ATR’s tonight (we can start them up “ready for taxi” to get things moving quicker). I didn’t go through it last night, got stuck playing Star Wars :o  To save time we can jump straight in with our 737’s or we can leave Vatsim and play around with the ATR’s on gamespy.

Don’t mind what we do!

Thats great V. I've been parcticing offline too. I seem to find myself rushing things for some reason...not sure why. When i do start to approach ILS i'm allways to high...to fast maybe? I did one last week and it went great, smooth landing but no one to share the elation with...lol.

I'm working tonight and friday night but will be about over the weekend.

Cheers.

Stevie,

Feeling rushed in the jets is natural. The important thing to remember is a jet won't 'go down and slow down' at the same time. I would recommend descending a little early to start with so you can decelerate whilst flying level. This isn't the most efficient way to fly them but you don't need to pay the fuel bills in FSX. I'd also aim to be fully configured (gear down F30 or 40) prior to glide slope intercept. As you get more comfortable you can delay this configuration and on VATSIM they'll probably want you to fly 160kts until 4 DME on an ils (gear down F15 should make this possible). I should be back home Friday night so I'll try and catch up with you all over the weekend.

I bought this app yesterday- flightradar2 4 pro. It is brilliant. I’ve just come back from the park(lunch break ;)) and cant believe how accurate it is. Watching the app and then looking above and seeing the planes come over at exactly the same time.

Very impressed. Just a pity ATC live doesn’t broadcast over the UK.

Amazing as always! Where is the first one taken? Looks so real.

Thanks, that first shot IIRC is taken at CZST, the latest airport scenery by FTX, which uses, for the first time, 7cm texture resolution. (1GB for a tiny airport, just a strip and a few building, but the texturing is gorgeous)

brilliant photos Soya.....

Cheers.

Thank you, I use various textures, what you can see in those shots is mostly NL2000V4.02, freeware photoreal Netherlands and also a little bit of FTX North America.

Soya - brilliant.

V,
If you can see planes overhead, you might be able to get a designated portable radio to listen in. I don't know anymore than that...

ATRs tonight..? Prepping them is half the fun. We've got to go from 'cold and dark' to 'hotel mode' which, reading online, no one seems to trust.. :p

I'll be online about 8pm on Mumble.

SV, turn on the ILS glideslope display from one of the menus. It'll then draw the boxes in the sky in FSX. You can then see for yourself where you'd need to be to intercept the ILS.

Vuvu, you want to get yourself an airband radio. Anything that covers 118-136Mhz will do the trick. I'd recommend UBC3500XLT as probably the best portable scanner you can get. Much more than just airband on that though.

Hotel mode is quite clever it saved them fitting an apu to the ATR. It allows you to start the number 2 engine without the prop turning you can then use it to supply electrical power to the aircraft.
