*** The Official Sony Ericsson Satio Thread ***

I was just about to ask a simular question as mine should arive today some time. The phones dose not suport divx out of the box, but dose anyone know of a App that can be used to play Divx.

ok update to my post above, i tried iSync from my Mac and that sync'd my N95 contacts. Then I wanted to sync the contacts to my Satio but I keep getting errors. It just wont sync. So I boot up Windows 7 and sync'd my N95 using the Nokia PC Suite and it sync'd with Outlook. Then I tried to sync Outlook with SE PC Suite and guess what, I got errors again. LoL this is frustrating.. i give up and ill transfer my contacts 1 by 1 :(

Not sure why that's happening. I sync'ed my old contacts to Outlook from my K850i and then connected my Satio and re-synched them with that. Worked fine first time.

On a seperate note, you would think that SE would make some sort of tool to migrate from an older to newer phone (especially if both are SE) without the hassle of using outlook.

CorePlayer is supposed to play DivX and Xvid, never tried it myself though as it's a purchase.

With my W960 I just converted my movies/vids into .mp4 using a 3rd party program for the psp (magic converter or something) and they play really well with the in-built media player and at a good resolution on my phone whilst not taking up so much storage. Not sure if the Satio uses the same resolution but I'm sure it will work exactly the same.

One problem though is that the program doesn't convert .mkv files but I'm sure there is a better program out there to use...

Send all contacts via bluetooth works between SE phones. It's how I've copied my address book over during the last 2 upgrades.

Thats how i copied all the contacts over from my N95. On the N95, i marked all the contacts i wanted send across and sent them as a business card to the Satio.

Copy all contacts to sim card, stick the sim card in the Satio, go address book and select options, in there you need to change the setting " Contacts to Display " to Sim.
Now you can go back into your address book select options again, and select MarK/Unmark, mark all contacts. Now you can use the option to copy all contacts to phone memory. Once you have done this, you can then change "Contacts to display option" back to phone memory. In the box that my phone came in was instructions how to do this, it looks like it was written by Orange not Sony.

With my Orange Upgreade, a new sim card came in the box. what do i do with this. Dose my old number get ported to this sim automaticaly, or do i need to phone them up to do this, or should i just scap it.

This didnt work for me.. I also came from an N95 (see my post above). Problem is the N95 would send the contacts as a business card. When I select "mark all" and send via bluetooth, my Satio would accept the contacts through my inbox. Then I would have to open the inbox (1 message per contact) and select save one by one.

edit: I did what cobrax said, although its not as simple as copying all to the sim because other details cant be copied such as email, bday, multiple numbers, etc..

Yup, thats the way i did it, it took a while but its all done now. Mind you its probably not the quickest method around but it worked.

Ive just figerd out how to get videos to to work on my phone. I tried verious programs such as psp magic, and converted the vedio files into verious formats, that did not work, and all i needed to do was to cut and past the file into the phone and the pc converted the file on its own,and it all.worked.

Say what? I'm assuming then, that you're copying over using PC Suite or other SE interface? Not via the standard Windows explorer? How are the transfer speeds? What format does it convert to?

I hate having SE PC Suite or any other unnecessary memory hogging piece of software installed on my computer, so I hope there is another way other than the SE app... even though I am not getting this phone anymore, I pray this is not the way SE are progressing with future phones as well...

Surely you can connect the Satio to a computer and have it recognised as an external storage device rather than a phone? Like with the fast file transfer option on my W960 (and IIRC, on my old P990)? And assuming this, there has to be a less intrusive method of converting and transferring.

I have got the PC Suite installed, but its not active at all, in the task manager it looks like something called "mfpmp.exe" Media Foundation Protected Pipeline EXE is doing all the conversions, which is a microsoft program, i think. Maybe you need to install the sony PC Suite first though. But it dose seem to do a good job, and its just a cut and paste.

Converts to a .WMV file, 700Mb divx takes about 3 minuites.
Vedio res is 320 x whatever.

What is the average battery life you are getting for moderate use, i take a few pictures and just use it for phone, text and e-mail and it seems i'm having to recharge every 2 days.

That sounds about normal for a smartphone at the moment. Ive noticed i am getting about 6/7 days from my little Samsung Jet between recharges

If i haven't used internet etc, just phone/messages then i'm getting about 3-4days out of it. If i use a moderate amount of internet/camera then two days is about the best i can do.

Having problems with my phone using 16gb micro SDHC. I sometimes get "Disk error - cannot complete write. Retry or data will be lost" message when installing applications. I put back the stock 8gb card and install the same files and everything installs fine. So I figured I have a faulty micro SD card.. I went back to the shop and had it replaced with a brand new one. I put it in my phone and guess what, I get the exact same error. Now is it possible that I had 2 brand new faulty SD cards? Or is there a problem with the Satio's support of 16gb SD cards?

that used to happen on my N93 with a 2 gig sd cards, just didnt like them at all

I'm happy with my satio though so far, not had one problem, everything still working great, every so often Symbian can be slightly sluggish, but other than that great :D

I love the Satio.. already have over 60+ apps installed :) too bad it doesnt want to cooperate with my 16gb microsd... I hope future firmware update will add support for it.
