I'm interested in this phone but a couple of things bother me.
I think it only comes with 384 MB onbaord memory, half that of the Desire HD. I've watched one or two hands on videos and it does look a little laggy.
Also I think it onlty comes with an 8 GB shd card, in this day and age that's a bit poor.

Aside from these niggles it looks a great phone.

Anyone have a clue when the silver version will be available on the vodaphone upgrade list? I've had dark coloured phones for 10 years and dammit, i want a change :D

Great looking phone by the way. I have a desire now, coming from an iphone 3sg, and it quickly became boring. Absolutely covered in scratches too from day to day use. Exactly the same use as the iphone which is pretty much in perfect nick. Baaad build quality in my opinion. Even the volume rocker is chipping away and I've only had it for 10 months

How the hell did you scratch a desire that much? Desire is one of the tougher screens, try a x10 for a easy to scratch screen :p

The X10 screen is pretty good. The X10 does come with a pre installed screen protector which does scratch easily. :)

Even though the screen isnt scratch free, its the actual body of the phone that is looking battered. Yes, I'm one of the crazies that doesn't like cases. This will apply too with the arc. Why get an 8mm phone and make it 10mm. Size matters :D

Well, I've emailed voda to ask, so I'll let you know

Getting more and more tempted to just take the other one though as it could be in my hand within a week...

:D

While one group of Android phone makers is swinging towards locking their hardware down, Sony Ericsson is resolutely headed in the other direction. The Swedo-Japanese consortium has just announced it will provide a secure and legal way for eager Android hackers to gain full control of the bootloader on some of its upcoming 2011 Xperia line of phones. All four models are covered, the Xperia Play, Neo, Pro, and Arc, however you have to make sure you buy a handset that isn't SIM-locked to a carrier and then there are territorial considerations to take into account. Warranties may still be voided by fooling around with your Xperia's software (again, depends on individual handsets and markets) and SE warns gravely of the potential for "physical injuries or material damage" if you freak your Android into overheating or worse. So proceed with caution, but know that Sony Ericsson is by your side*.

Phoned up Voda last night to check on the progress of my upgrade...

Originally when I went through the 'Online Early Upgrade' thinngy last week, it said they would endevour to ge the phone to me by the 1st April... Now they're saying "It will be in the Country on the 1st but won't Ship till the 4th/5th April!"...

I still want this phone sooooo badly!!.. so I'm gonna have to endure my BlackBerry (without its BIS functions) for another week! :(

Just hope I can still get at least £110 for my old Bold online by then!..

I take both to work, no screen protector on either and the x10 scratches waaaay more easy than the Desire :)

are you 100% sure theres no screen protector , ie did you remove it yourself ? theres been many on here who havent even noticed its got one you see...

the hardness of my x10s screen was great , the plastic was wrecked , the buttons had worn through to grey but the screen remained pristine , wish i could say the same about my iphone4 :(

Took the screen protector off, so my fault really :D

Still, the screen just aint as tough as the Desire's, do a lot of landscaping so always covered in dust and mud so both phones get bit of a workout and the x10 is showing a lot more fine scratches.

I have also dropped the desire a few times and that slight chin really comes into its own on keeping the screen off the tarmac a bit.

Like the look of the Arc but looking at some video samples on youtube v other new phones it lags badly behind on detail :(

Interesting, but still way too expensive for a Snapdragon. I wouldn't pay the premium over a Galaxy S or Desire HD.
Though all of those phones are too expensive on Sim-Free anyway imo. I'm happy to lag 6 months behind the curve and pick up £200 second hand bargains.

with whom???

I wants :D

With handtec.co.uk! :D They are in stock as of tomorrow and will ship tomorrow too, I believe!

Regarding the Misty Silver, I was told that they were not 100% sure if they were getting in the Misty Silver, and if they didnt they will email and let me know and I can have a Midnight Blue one instead. But hopefully they get the Misty Silver in :D

SE Direct have them instock and can ship today. :D

Handtec / Clove are currently awaiting stock

Is that the same as the SE Store?! They wouldnt ship to Ireland, even though I was looking for a SIM free mobile..

Handtec tweeted today that the Arc will be in stock tomorrow
