andyd - did your ARC come with a Micro HDMI Cable in the box?

Just got my arc yesterday - there was an HDMI cable included in the box, but quite a short one. Just ordered an extension so I can use it form the sofa. Couldnt get the TV remote to work though.

Seems like a nice phone so far, my first experience with Android, coming from an iphone 3G so going ot take a bit of getting used to. I'm also struggling with the battery, just having to charge it now, but I have been using it a fair bit today!

where did you buy the extension?

The battery life is pretty poor!!! 

Listened to music on the way to work this morning – approx 40 mins. Went on Facebook and Twitter a couple of times. Sent a few text messages. The battery already only has approx 55-60% left! It was charged over night, and since this morning the WiFi was turned off, as was Bluetooth. I turned the display brightness right down and turned off the Bravia Engine..

Am I doing something wrong?! The battery wont last me the day at this rate and it’s not even 11am!!

Is the phone sim free? If so there is a update out on SEUS.

The first I got mine, I think it lasted around 10 hours or so bit that was straight out the box with only a hours charge at work.

As with all smart phones new battery takes about a week or so to get into there normal operating window. I seem to be getting around a day and half for mine now, that's with some pretty have use.

Do Vodaclone lock their handsets??..

Basic reason I ask is I want to have a play with the Bootloader etc...

(once I get my phone that is!!... mumble mumble mumble!)

Vodafone don't lock there handsets other then iPhones or BBs. However, it will have a Vodafone branded firmware on it.

A open bootloader means you can run custom ROM and kernels. :D

Got a software update this evening. It prompted me to do so when I connected to my laptop. Not sure what it did, but it did add the BBC iPlayer. Now, I tried to get that from the Market and as I'm in Ireland, it didn't let me download it. Why then would they give it to me in an update?? It doesnt work in Ireland! Thought maybe the Radio section would work (as people in Ireland can listen to BBC radio on the desktop version of the iPlayer) but not even that would work. So a totally uselss app was added in the software update..

Gona try get the remote control work with the HDMI connection now

Remote works.. didnt have to do anything to configure it.. The Red Green Yellow and Blue buttons control it as well as the directional buttons

Andy can you tell me how you got your handset from CPW. Did you upgrade online with Vodafone and then pick your phone up from the CPW store ?
Cheers

I bought mine sim free from CPW on Oxford Street. However, you can just go on CPW and ask for a upgrade and they check it on there systems.

So does that mean (when I finally get mine) that I can do that??.. :):)

I mean would I be able to Root a Vodaclone Xperia Arc using the SE tools (when they are up and the 'structions are on the site???)

or am I just hoping against hope!?!.. :(

(Still no sign of a Delivery from SE to Voda!..)

Thanks Andy, I just rang my local store and they said I couldnt do that as the upgrade was already being processed by V Store. They have no stock until Tuesday anyway :D
Thanks anyway.

I got an email (and spoke to someone at the V-Store) who told me that if my Local Vodaclone Highstreet Store had one I could go in and have that and they'd process it that way!...

So I tried to phone my local store, but Vodaclone policy is they don't have an 'external' phone number in-store for people to phone em!.. so I went round and round and round on the phone system!!...

I have been told that as they have missed my last 2 delivery dates and it now looks like they are gonna miss a 3rd, I WILL be getting some kind of compansation!...

Thats good!!.. but I'd like the Phone also!! :(

Luckily, even though I'm on holiday next week, we're not 'going' any where!!.. apart from Monday... so I can easily nip down to the shop at the first snifter its getting delivered there!!...

But I'm still not a happy bunny (yet!), Just hope this phone is worth the wait!!.. :o

Just got this Email...
