**The Official Star Wars Battlefront II Thread (PC)**

Quite enjoyed a blast on the Starfighter mission but I kept getting the rebels and people weren't going for the objectives. X-wings also felt slightly unmaneuverable which was a bit odd. On foot section was alright but not as good as walker assault as poster above says.

Not sure how I feel about earning a go as a hero instead of random drops. I also got killed by that little girl Rey :p
 
A shame there isn't a more structured squad system in the games IMO. This game could really shine with good teamwork and squad play.

Starfighter assault looks and sounds great, does anyone know if it works with a joystick?

I might be being stupid, but I really couldnt work out who was in my squad. It says to stick with your squad for bonuses but on the radar everyone on my team is blue, so I couldnt tell who was in the squad and who wasnt. Would be helpful if the dots on the radar were green or something for squadmates and blue for allies
 
How do i play this beta? I clicked on the Battlefront 2 store page where it says 'get beta' but nothing downloaded. Doesn't show in my games library but it says I own the beta when I look in the free games\demos and betas section on origin. When i go to the beta icon in that section it just says 'learn more' and i'm put to the Battlefront 2 store page with no mention of the beta anymore as far as i can see :confused:
 
The Starfighter camera position seems way too close to the fighter or maybe just the lack of FOV controls at this point is making it odd. I feel I have to sit further back from my monitor as a result.

I may also be missing it but is there no proper in flight radar such as one might have in a space combat game like the one in the X-Wing series etc?

Is there also no way to select nearest target when flying etc?
 
So beta finally appeared in my games library. Downloaded, played 2 rounds of Galactic Assault and one of that Startfighter mode. In the second round of Galactic Assult there was an obvious hacker on the enemy team. Game was kinda boring and not worth the DL imo.
 
I dont think the Beta Ultra preset is using Ultra setting! This is known from past Dice Games in Beta!
I do hope this is just a bug though, once I noticed it I couldn't stop and it really was putting me off playing.
 
Everything set to ULTRA and it all looks so fuzzy, especially text in the menus, like there is interference running up and down the screen. I assume its supposed to look like that to give it that star wars look but its just making my eyes hurt as I try and focus.

Is it the same for you guys?

Its post-processing. I set it to low and its gone, but have noticed other problems like the terrible aliasing, even with full AA, at 1080p and the rendering issues, as shown in the video posted above. There are also huge lags in big firefights, especially in the palace halls.

If it's a squad of friends they show up green, i'm the same as you no idea about identifying non friend squads.
 
I think overall, its not a game I would play intensively, however I'm getting enough fun out of the beta that I expect I could get 35 hours play out of the game (in periods of the odd hour or two here and there) , which at £35 would make it pass the £ per hour test. So I think I'll pick it up.
 
Actually had a good bit of fun in the Starfighter mode this morning. Got an MVP on one round. Played as Poe's X-wing and saved enough for Slave 1 and promptly flew it into the capital ship without killing anyone :p

I need to git gud at the ground bit though. I suck at that. No chance of being a hero on that mode.
 
The biggest problem with the game , imo, is one which plagues all games of this ilk. People just dont PTFO. All they do is treat everything like a deathmatch so that they get their name in "lights" at the end of the match. Play strike and people dont bother to pick up the artifact, or escort the artifact carrier. Instead they just run about trying to get as many kills as possible. Its the same problem that games like this have when they show K/D ratios etc. They make the games about how the individual does rather than how the team does. Until a game gets rid of K/D and the endscreen Most Kills, MVP, Most Damage Dealt etc "victory" screens and make it simply about whether your team won or lost, this sort of thing will perpetuate. Too many people out there focused on how they do rather than the team.
 
^^^^ Yes, just had that problem on a couple of extra starfighter rounds. It was like the Battle of Britain in the middle (which was fun) but nobody went for the objectives.

Was so bad I was on a losing Imperial team, first time I’ve seen the Imps lose.

Those Y wings are like tanks.
