**The Official Star Wars Battlefront II Thread (PC)**

Can't believe I actually put my wheel away for an hour to play this *****..

Thank **** I cancelled my pre order

good lad. This franchise is all but dead now, well for the people that loved Battlefield pre BF4 anyway. The focus has shifted, it's now just as casual as COD sadly and aimed to much at the kiddie market that have no idea what a real game should play and feel like.

It is what it is. I will get 35 hours of fun out of it so it meets my £ per hour requirement. But tbh, the Battlefield franchise has been on a downward slope since Battlefield 1942 for me. BF1942 was the best of the lot imo.

BF:V > BF2142* > BF1942 > BF2 > BF4 > BF3 > BF1

Has to be said every BF game has had issues, from the hugely OP planes in 1942 to the hugely overpowered helicopters in BF2 plus a string of legacy issues that they keep reintroducing.

A re-make of 1942 while taking the franchise back to its routes is something I would love to see, preferably before I am too old to enjoy it :D

*Star Wars BF should take notes from 2142 as it shows how to make a fun BF without completely losing sight of what made BF good.

Started at BF2 and BF2142 was by far the best version of the game , well balanced with plenty of team play.

BF1 was getting that way until the previous update introduced extreme lag into the gameplay.

The last version of Battlefront was OK but once the "its starwars" wore off my interest fell away quickly.

The helicopters in BF2 could take thousands of rounds and multiple anti tank missiles while still flying normally ;)

While the guided missiles could kill a tank in one hit. Much like the jets in 3, overpowered. 4 is probably the best balanced modern battlefield game, but my overall favourite is still 2142. I'm just now of the belief they'll never do a sequel.

Regarding this game, I still can't shake the feeling if they cut out the arcadey rubbish and made it much more like a proper Battlefield game, with squads, objectives and better balance it would sell millions of copies and be awesome.

Its post-processing. I set it to low and its gone, but have noticed other problems like the terrible aliasing, even with full AA, at 1080p and the rendering issues, as shown in the video posted above. There are also huge lags in big firefights, especially in the palace halls.

That is interesting.

I just tried it quickly on PC after a couple of hours on the PS4 Pro and was wondering why the game looked like it was running at 720p despite telling me it was running in 1440p (native).

Gameplay was alright I suppose but half of my deaths left me thinking what on earth had just happened (based on my position vs the enemy).

I was "eh" overall but nothing I am going to buy.

I'd love a remake of BF1942, I loved its huge maps, its combination of aircraft, vehicles and proper ships. Battleship v Battleship style fighting was great.

The thing is..... the game doesn't necessarily feel casual/arcadey, the first one still feels far more aracdey/casual (and FAR better, more enjoyable than SWBF 2, the arcadey/casual play style of that really suited it in the end imo, although bf 4 reskin would have been far better) but this one just feels so lifeless, can't quite put my finger on what it is, it is like they tried to have a skill ceiling and incorporate some BF elements but in the end, it falls short in every way possible :/

I wanted to like this game so badly, I'm a huge star wars fan but the gameplay is just not all that great. Credit to dice for the technical achievement, the beta runs great for me and looks fantastic. I'll still pick it up in a year's time when it's cheap for the story mode but I can't pay full price for this, such a shame.

Pretty disapointing: No squad, overpowered heroes (That regenerate health!!)

Seems more like an addon to the first one.

I could prob waste 20-30hours in it though.

It was fun for an hour i guess. Typical console game for me. Looks nice but when it comes down to it there is just not enough substance to make it worth bothering with. Just a grenade spam, jumping around, pew pew mess.

I've only managed to play as Darth Maul once but it was so overpowered and almost unfair. I got a six kill streak in less than thirty seconds. I've felt the same way when coming up against Heroes. It's almost pointless even trying to shoot them.

Dx11 kicking 12s ass on 1080 Ti.

No surprise there considering dx 12/low level apis are gimped on nvidia hardware :p

Saying that, DX 12 is poor even on AMD hardware in this game like bf 1...... If it is anything like BF 1 then SP dx 12 will be fantastic, although low level apis working well would be far more beneficial in MP than SP......

Having seen digital foundry's ps 4 pro footage, console looks better than what I am seeing on my PC (ultra and high preset....), no surprise though as PC is just an afterthought these days.

Just been checking out the card/weapon/upgrade system and wow...... They sure have made this even more grindy than most other games...... Prepare to get your wallets out if you want to have the edge with OP weapons and OP cards/perks unless you want to spend hours and hours just to be able to unlock a weapon or 2..... Absolutely ridiculous, give me paid for DLC/premium over this crap.

DICE/EA have ruined what could have been an absolutely epic franchise.

I'm still looking forward to see how the single player campaign plays outs. If it's more than 7 hours long then I'll probably pick up the game, knowing that I'll get the extra value through dipping in and out of the odd online game. I wouldn't be picking it up purely on multi-player though - the first one will still scratch that itch for me.

If it's longer than 5 hours I will be surprised. 7 hours I'll be shocked.
