:D

Also, lol at people thinking that people are having a mental breakdown over this, personally I think this whole fiasco is ******* hilarious, far more entertaining than any game out there :D :D :D

yep ive had more fun listening/watching reviews about this game then i did playing the trial.. :D

Your reaction to trying to do something about the ****-poor state that some AAA games are turning into with micro-transactions is lol? At least I'm trying to do something for the consumer.

True there are lots of things in life where you don't know what you're getting, but this isn't whataboutism. We're focusing on loot crates on a AAA game which has clearly been designed to only entice customers to purchase micro-transactions, not a 50p chocolate egg.

Yup micro transactions you pay for something and you get something. Regardless of anyone’s thoughts on this game and I’m not defending it. But it’s no more gambling than it’s yoga!

But if you don't know what you are going to get, and you're paying in cash, it's then a gamble?

So if I open a casino where I give everyone who makes a bet a soft drink or packet of crisps each time they bet, it's no longer gambling because they're getting "something"

If I started producing scratch cards which cost £1 but have a guaranteed prize of 50p at minimum... it's not gambling because they're getting something ?

Utterly stupid

Do you class roulette as gambling? Because that's exactly what these P2W loot crates are, they're a game of roulette.

technically it isn't, and theyre playing the technicality.

As said before, if I said give me £1 for a guaranteed return, or the chance to get £100, and you got a penny back, you'd be annoyed.

But the way 'gambling' works is that if you receive that penny, then it isn't gambling, and thats what loot crates are. You are guaranteed a return on your money, just **** all.

These investigations will fail IMO, but as long as the industry takes a nice big hit for using them I don't care if theyre sucessful or not.

Lvlcap is right, they prey on people with addictive personalities and children. Us 20-40's are a minor target when you consider the 10-18 year olds and other people with gambling issues dumping cash into it.

Electronic Arts says loot boxes aren't gambling

http://www.pcgamer.com/electronic-a..._source=twitter&utm_campaign=buffer-pcgamertw

It does seem our best and likely only hope to nip all this loot box nonsense creeping into AAA games in the bud, would be for one of these investigations to conclude they are a form of gambling doesn't it?

My response from the UK Gambling Commission says otherwise. Because there is no monetary prize (in the form of either cash or sellable items), there is nothing that the UK can do under current legislation.

The premium currency is unavailable to many right now and there's lots of rumours on reddit and twitter that EA are doing a massive U-Turn and removing microtransactions from the game :D

Can't see it myself but it would be a huge victory for gamers if it's true, hell I might even get the damn game if it happens.

EA Takes Star Wars Battlefront II Microtransactions Offline.

"As Star Wars Battlefront II launches, the ability to purchase crystals, the sequel's in-game currency, for in-game microtransactions, is currently unavailable for players.

Hours ahead of the game's launch in North America, IGN has confirmed that crystals cannot be purchased as of press time on both the PSN and on PC. Crystals can still be purchased on Xbox One via the online Microsoft Store, but not directly in-game. Crystals are used to purchase crates, which include Star Cards, emotes, and other resources."

Most likely just a glitch & not to appease folks, but time'll tell.

Thank you to everyone in our community for being the passionate fans that you are.

Our goal has always been to create the best possible game for all of you – devoted Star Wars fans and game players alike. We’ve also had an ongoing commitment to constantly listen, tune and evolve the experience as it grows. You’ve seen this with both the major adjustments, and polish, we have made over the past several weeks.

But as we approach the worldwide launch, it's clear that many of you feel there are still challenges in the design. We’ve heard the concerns about potentially giving players unfair advantages. And we’ve heard that this is overshadowing an otherwise great game. This was never our intention. Sorry we didn’t get this right.

We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.

We have created a game that is built on your input, and it will continue to evolve and grow. Star Wars Battlefront II is three times the size of the previous game, bringing to life a brand new Star Wars story, space battles, epic new multiplayer experiences across all three Star Wars eras, with more free content to come. We want you to enjoy it, so please keep your thoughts coming. And we will keep you updated on our progress.

Microtransactions are gone for now but they will be back; smells like an elaborate ruse to me. If they come back as purely comsetic then it wont be too bad.
