**The Official Star Wars Battlefront II Thread (PC)**

Just saw this post and I thought its worth reading.

He raises a good point, I don't agree with everything though. I think EA will be figuring out some other way to bring back P2W and gamble boxes.

I mean this, this might be one of the greatest things I've read on the internet.... Literally!

Tho.... I expect season passes to make a return for BF5.

Still tho, as I said, EA would have never bowed to pressure from the gaming community... Least I can enjoy SWBF2

Trial is nearly up and went from enjoying it originally to finding the game really isn't that good regardless of all the unlocks/loot box stuff, most maps are awful and result in very tedious rounds, movement and aiming doesn't feel that polished but I've been playing it at 4K on a 55 inch TV so this may have contributed to that, maxed out the game imo doesn't look as good as some are making out and I'm playing it on an OLED that can do HDR extremely well.

It's still compltely unfair in mp if they don't reset the servers and everyone's stats, Pay 2 Win hjas already happened for loads of early pre-order customers. All those that have already milked the system will have a huge advantage today going forward, and those buying today will have zero chance online against those that have already Pay 2 Win'd this game. But then it's unfair on all the mugs that bought crystals for loot crate star cards with real game money. It's still a crappy scenario and still fubar.

Do people really think loot boxes is gambling? Are we going to get booster card packs and football stickers 18+? I imagine the most that will come of it will be companies have to put the %chance of getting each item and/or there will be a max amount of spend per day or week etc.

You can swap and trade card packs and stickers (and that's half the point of them), you are stuck with the loot box results so yes they are gambling of a very insidious sort aimed squarely at kids and the addiction inclined.

Erm, can you please explain why it would be more skilful for someone to grind for hours and kill me because they have better perks than if they just unlocked the stuff via £££ and did exactly the same ?

Their skill level is not determined by the method of how they unlock perks etc...

Someone utterly gash could grind for hours and kill me with their better perks, how is that worse for me than someone who just bypasses the grind doing the same ? Its the same, I die either way... and I never know if they grinded those perks or bought them, and thankfully I'll never give a toss either.
Because that's the problem with the world today, nobody wants to put any effort into anything, I don;t agree with the whole paying for stuff in order to shortcut effort in general anyway, If you have put the effort in you should be able to wipe the floor with people who haven't.

There could be an argument to be made though that putting the effort in, in one area of your life usually always spreads to others, so if someone has worked hard to be in the position they are then spending £££ to have all the unlocks would be a better use of their time. Having everything just be a grind doesn't work, particularly when a new BF will be out before most people unlock even half the stuff, there's simply not enough hours in the day, the issue here is the amount of hours that needs to be put in which either turns people away from the game or tempts them into microtransaction purchases, they haven't got the balance right at all and are preying on the vulnerable and the wealthy whereas most of the playerbase lies somewhere inbetween.

Oh, interesting turn of events this morning!

This is probably why they are changing them:

1. disney might have stepped in, because of all the bad PR surrounding "star wars", there is bad PR and then there is "BAD" PR
2. if governments and official authorities are getting involved, this is the last thing EA and disney want
3. sales must be extremely bad

I highly doubt they will remove the loot boxes as EA have said they want this to be their new system for every game but if they do and they go back to DLC/premium, great!

Until the squad system is improved i.e. I can group up with friends, I still won't be buying though.

Typical Dice - they don't go back fix what was wrong and build on that - just throw a load of new ideas at it, occasionally fix things if put under enough pressure but the same problems will always re-emerge at a later date, etc. and unfortunately a lot of people lap it up so they aren't forced to do better.

Exactly, this is one thing I can't stand about EA/DICE, the way they always start from scratch with each new game and throw out all the work/changes they did previously. BF 4 is more or less the perfect game in terms of design decisions when it came to suppression, gunplay, vehicle to infy balance and so on but nope **** all that, lets start from scratch for bf 1 :o

This is why I stopped playing DICE games with BF4.

I have no interest in getting spanked by people who put more time into the game to unlock all the decent weaponry and perks.

I don't mind getting beat by people because they are better than me, I mind getting beat by people because they grind more than me. Such a lousy bit of design.

All they needed to do to satisfy every geek across the world is reskin BF4 with Star Wars weapons, equipment and vehicles, stick in some relevant maps, update the graphics a bit and they'd have sold millions of copies. I'd have bought that **** in an instant. Season Pass too!

Last time I checked, you were not able to ruin somebody else's football sticker collection by having stickers that they didn't. This is not the analogy. You are comparing randomized collector items for personal competition with randomized (or purchasable) benefits for multiplayer competition.
