I hope your sig (CPU) is outdated? The 7900 XT won't get out of second gear with that CPU.Can't say I'm impressed so far, game crashed 3 times in under an hour.
Performance seems mediocre at best at 1440p on a 7900XT.

Yes, by all means, I never said they shouldn't. However, I did say that the CPU might need to be upgraded if you want to avoid weird situations like FSR showing no performance benefit. You are in effect running a lower resolution with FSR enabled, so if you are CPU limited then lowering the resolution (by activating FSR) is not going to increase FPS. However, maybe he has some other issue with his system/driver and he's not CPU limited. But that is usually the cause if FPS do not increase by lowering resolution which was why I provided three examples showing that performance does scale on my hardware. I get your point btw.Shouldn't people wait for an actual balanced comparison/benchmark test?
In a lot of games, a 12700k Vs 5800x3d Vs a 7950x3d will make little difference, even at 720p. It's not like they are running a 7th gen i3 or something.
Sure, Starfield could be one of the few exceptions, but I'd be amazed if the difference was worth a whole new system and a £650 cpu ...
EDIT
I have both and can say the 7900 XTX and 4090 both run the game well, with no issues. However, the 7900 XTX is slightly faster, but not by much. My 4090 is overclocked to silly high clock speeds too.Optimised for AMD but runs better on Nvidia cards![]()
