@LtMatt

Poor form quoting yourself unless you’re trying to win an unwinnable argument in the GPU forum. ;)

Hope my 5950X doesn’t hold back my 4090FE too much when I get a chance to play on Wednesday.

Finally downloaded the preload at least.
I forgot to add the video to my post was all.

Just pointing out that FSR does not lower performance if you are using suitable hardware to drive that 4090. I'd imagine you will be CPU limited once the FPS goes past a certain value with a 5950X.
Pretty bold of him to tell someone to upgrade their CPU/whole system, when we have no actual benchmarks to test if it would be even worth it/make a big difference.
I suggested upgrading the CPU. I included three examples in my post showing FPS increasing with FSR enablement and GPU utilisation being locked at 99%-98% in response to a claim that FSR lowers FPS. It doesn't if your CPU is up to the task and your hardware well matched. The 4090 needs a top tier CPU to get the most from it.

I was just pulling your chain! Hoping the 16C 5950X won’t perform too badly TBH. If I can manage a rock steady 60/4K I’ll be happy.

Bummer about HDR though as I was looking forward to using it on the OLED which usually makes things pop.

I know. Not everyone will like what I have to say but it is true. :)

If you run max settings you should be okay let me know please, but not going to lie your CPU and GPU are not at all balanced from a performance perspective.

Maybe the hype was too much? I won't be playing until tomorrow night so it's interesting to see how people opinions form after a few hours game time.

Wait what?! My character creation was done in about 8 minutes lol.
wow 8hours of creating a character lol. Probably take me the whole weekend to create mine lol.

I have not started making my character yet. But I am sure it will take no less than 30 minutes.

I am actually looking forward to playing and immersing myself in the game. Not rushing it :)

Not a bad start considering some people won't be playing until the 6th *and* this doesn't include GamePass of course:

Im currently playing prey which is a 6yr old Bethesda game and it still has loads of bugs like invisible enemies, doors, fire etc one bug had my character constantly jumping, i had to load a previous save to fix it. Still a great game though just dont expect bugs to be fixed unless by a 3rd party.

Can't say I'm impressed so far, game crashed 3 times in under an hour.

Performance seems mediocre at best at 1440p on a 7900XT.
That's not good :(

I've played for a couple of hours and had zero crashes (just got my head melted by a critter 8 levels higher than me though :D) hopefully there's some quick patches/driver updates to fix those crash issues.

Shouldn't people wait for an actual balanced comparison/benchmark test?

In a lot of games, a 12700k Vs 5800x3d Vs a 7950x3d will make little difference, even at 720p. It's not like they are running a 7th gen i3 or something.

Sure, Starfield could be one of the few exceptions, but I'd be amazed if the difference was worth a whole new system and a £650 cpu ...

People like to spend money. IMO it's not worth upgrading yet. Wait for the patches, dlc and for the game to mature and see what it is like then.
