***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Hard to see why they would bother to make a new engine for the next title anyway, if Starfield goes on to be a smash hit this year, sells like mad and even maybe getting GOTY, then there wouldnt be much need to go to all the effort of a new engine for the next game.

The exaggerated misinformation on the internet thing is true too, just look at all the exaggerated misinformation on the net about Act 3 of BG3 being a broken unplayable mess, theres always someone on social media somewhere being hyperbolic about issues in a game.

Make sure to check this thread for new MODS such as lighting/performance etc
OI! This thread isn't for helping people!

It's for arguing about real usage performance and believing lying youtube shills! Oh and saying one gpu company is better than the other...

How DARE you be helpful in this thread!

I suggest you think about what you've done, and the damaged you've caused!

Go take your business elsewhere sunshine!

There's no way round the 'fast travel mechanic' or 'one visit and done' with a game this big and this early on. Without it the game would be a huge chore and drag. That level of simulation is better served by MMORPGs

Have you got a bounty against you?

Not been like that for me, only where I jump into a specific battle or groups hunting me. Plenty of times seeing in distance not engaging then sneaking up to them on low power flight.
Yes!! it turns out there is a bounty against me. I need to pay over 15k to clear it but I cannot clear it in the region that the bounty started in?
How do I clear it then as I cannot travel anywhere else other that Jemison from what I can see.

Loving Neon. So many cool places in this game.

I like the extra dialogue options and how they can help you with the persuasion mini game or alternative quest approaches.

The world so far has responded pretty well to everything I’ve done in it too, with a lot of added dialogue options and comments from NPCs.

I’ve got a stuck quest in my quest log which is bugging me, but then that’s standard Bethesda. It’s asking me to hand something in, but I can’t as I completed the quest a different way.

Sigh.

Will be doing a restart when the footie's over.

Apart from not being happy with my anorexically challenged astronaut, I've now decided I want the perk that gives you a house.

Oh well, not like I didn't restart FO4 a few times.

This game is definitely designed for multiple playthroughs.

Dream House Perk - Nothing comes close to this that I have found. You can buy the materials to build the items from various vendors. Build storage crates and other useful kit early on. Storage management is very challenging.

Lock Picking and Stealth skills are surprisingly useful from very early on but that is my personal play style preference. Many rooms and crates cannot be accessed without being able to pick the locks.

Some essentials early on as soon as through the first main quests to The Old Neighbourhood:

The Mantis Questline for the Armor and Ship (Razorleaf)
The Rangers Questline for the Weapons and Ship (Star Eagle)

Not just for the rewards either but the above two quest lines open up a huge number of side quests and Systems early on. Like the Dark Brotherhood and Theives Guild from Skyrim.

Wolf Den in Wolf System (nr Sol/AC) has the trader for contraband

I just took wanted perk. Can get a house anyway.

Not like the dream house by the looks of it.

But yer sleep in the ship.

If you had your dream home perk you can build a 'clear bounty terminal'

Otherwise these can be found in various systems.

Think The Rangers lodge has one.

For those using dlss, what sharpness settings are you using in game and in the dlss menu?

@mrk
75 in game and the default in the injection dialogue thing for DLSS - I have not played with other values so will try values others suggest if a better combo is found.

Can you actually get away with murder in this game? Like kill and npc to get something like a security card but then be able to hide the corpse and not get a bounty?

I don't know where some of you got the info that I wasn't enjoying the game. I am playing it under the same conditions as I did with Cyberpunk at launch, appreciating the good bits, but observing and sharing the bad bits, both games had a lot of bad bits to post about whether GIFs, screenshots or otherwise :p

All I've said so far is that I would not have paid £65 for premium had I known that the PC version was so lacking of PC centric mechanics/features and technologies that other games ship with as standard! I think it's a fair cop at £25, but not beta test and pay for the privilege! At least Cyberpunk didn't go down the premium route and had more comedy to post

At least with Cyberpunk V actually talks, in this it's just outbound text to click which is less immersive lol. Still, the weapon sounds are amazing in this and the way they change pitch and impact depending on where you are in the area is impressive. If you have hifi speakers on your PC then definitely make use of the audio fidelity this game offers for audio. It one-ups Cyberpunk in that area for sure.

As for the sharpening, I see no difference adjusting the in-game sharpening values when DLSS is being used, I also see no real difference settings a DLSS sharpening value outside of the 0.7 in the upscaler ini file. I tried 1.0 and saw no difference, for example. If there is a difference then I wasn't seeing it at 200% zoom looking at the screenshots afterwards in the one indoor scene with computer keyboards and screens in the BG.

I am having a blast doing every mission. But game is only worth £25 :p:cry:

Come on mrk, yeah those features are nice and should be in the game, but they are not worth more than the the actual game itself. Essentially you are saying those features are worth £40 and the game is £25. No? :p

Fallout 4 had a voiced protaganist but all the RPG fans thought it wasn't immersive for some reason,so they dropped it for Starfield. A bit of a shame, because the sarcastic lines were pretty funny.

You misunderstood, I'm saying the missing stuff is laziness, they could have had them in but chose not to, because they are so obvious it's just absurd to think they were an oversight, considering they appear to have cut features too (example right above re: voice acting for your character).

We still have a 15GB day 1 patch to come, so like I said before, maybe this patch will contain fixes for the issues noted, in which case sure, views can be adjusted.

I didn't think Cyberpunk was worth its £45 price tag at the time either but 3 years or so on, in its current state, absolutely it is.
