***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Had my first annoying bugs tonight. Trying to clear an outpost and getting shot through walls, insta killed from another floor etc. Hopefully I can kill the ****** or I can just escape from it.

I was in the Neon prison foyer and picked up a cup, a cop decided that THIS WAS A CRIME and literally jumped up from ground level t the first floor over the banister and shot me to death.

These guys are more lethal than Maxtech.

Oh also this:

I freed a random guy from prison by opening his cell door. He walked out without a care in the world, only to get immediately killed by the prison guards.

All in a days work.

Sarah and I also have this inside joke where she tells me off for doing evil deeds.

There's crafting areas scattered around bases usually, not all the time though. A companion can carry stuff and you could always drop items, fast travel, then fast travel back.

No crashes for me yet playing for 1 day and something according to the save counter. I've been using loads of mods from DLSS to the starUI and all the menu/UI fps fixes. Also the lockpick mod as I hate it, an obnoxious timesink.
Performance is pants as we all know. I notice the underutilised (Nvidia) GPU in the RTSS stats on both a desktop and laptop. I have to use 50-66% resolution to get to 60 frames.
No serious bugs yet, just silly NPCs walking around where and when they shouldn't. There was a floating Andreja outside of the ship during a landing sequence.

I am at 28 hours played now (level 21) and still not got Serah as I have yet to do that quest. Basically once I joined the I stopped doing those mainline quests.

I am still on Neon doing all the Ryujin quests. Almost level 22. Probably would have been 25 by now had I done bounty and other stuff where I kill loads of spacers.

Reply enjoying playing this the last 4 days, put a lot of hours in and am level 25 and barely touched the main quest.

Enjoying the combat a lot and even space combat is growing on me a bit.
Finding the space station that the refugees escaped from in new Atlantis and also helping out the families versus spacers were two very good quests.

Jesus Christ, Just explored Niira, must have gone through 5000 rounds of ammunition after the whole planet tried to eat me

Few annoying bugs, especially around building outposts and poor performance even with 7800x3d and 4090.

Even still, I would give the game 9/10, mods for sure will make this game 10/10[/SPOILER]

Would love to see the gamepass numbers. I know I am one
Quite a lot I imagine, in fact, Bethesda said a few days ago that they had 1 million concurrent players, at the time, the peak on Steam was 246,000 , so for there to have been 1 million concurrent you could surmise that 754,000 of those 1 million , 3 out of every 4 players, must have been on gamepass. What that means in terms of sales of the game I dont know. I guess one could equally surmise that means that perhaps fewer people bought the game than if it had been Steam only, though equally maybe if it had been Steam only and people couldnt play it for just the sub cost of gamepass for a month some people might not have bought it anyway.

Look at this way. The game costs £60 to buy on Steam. Lets say the average user gets bored of the game after a year and uninstalls.
Whereas for game pass users assuming all new subscribers over the course of that 12 months the game has cost £9 per month x 12 months so £108 (80% more)

Plus all the new xbox console sales ...

Plus all the other games on gamepass included in that price.

How do you build a ship from scratch? I might be being dim but I am only seeing the option to change parts on my current ship.

Possibly, though I'd need to know the stats on how long someone would play a game like Starfield, will the average user play Starfield , every month , for a year. Or would the average user play Starfield for maybe 3 months and then be finished with it (maybe then returning in a years time to see how things have changed) and assuming that sort of average user then cancel their gamepass once they've "finished" with Starfield, then it would be 3 months at £9 per month x 3, £27. Though I suspect the business plan would be to get a new subscriber to subscribe for Starfield and then hope that even if they finish with Starfield in a couple of months they dont then cancel their sub and instead opt to keep it running because of the other titles on Gamepass, so Starfield then becomes a gateway product for Gamepass regardless of whether the player has finished with Starfield

I spent a few hours doing what started as a let’s clear this quest I got from somewhere I can’t remember

Operation Starseed

What a great quest line, it was typical cheesy mostly feel good Star Trek style plot line but boy did I enjoy it.

For me it typifies why Bethesda games are better than the sum of their parts.

Starfield's rating continues to fall. It is now only rated 3% higher than Fallout 76.

I normally don’t check the rating but did so out of curiosity after this pointless post. Absolutely agree that it must be a terrible game if only 78% of people playing in Steam like it. Oh the shame, how can Bethesda ever look at themselves in the mirror again.

Go hang your head in shame Bethesda because only 4 out it every 5 people think Starfield is good.
