***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Another thing I am noticing is a fair bit of the content, if you like, is locked behind skills.

This isnt a complaint as such, just an observation, outpost building for example is pretty limited on the basic modules, ship building as well, but there are lots of similar things you cannot really do at all until you unlock it.

I have no issues with unlocking. As a matter of fact I even like it as it feels rewarding. My issue is the method used to lock it.

Hoping for a few hours tonight, trying to finish off the Ryugen quest line....i just suck at stealthy games.

On one of the other ones I just did a Benny Hill with 100 guards chasing me, quite fun but not really as intended.

Anyone tested the new Nvidia drivers yet?
"Today, NVIDIA is releasing a Resizable BAR profile for Starfield which increases performance on GeForce RTX 40 Series and GeForce RTX 30 Series desktop and laptop GPUs. In our testing scenario, GeForce RTX 40 Series desktop GPUs see on average a 5% increase in performance. The Starfield Resizable BAR update will be pushed via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update from NVIDIA and will be automatically applied for gamers running the latest Game Ready Driver (537.34) or the previous release (537.17)."

It's not helped by the fact that I'm quite salty atm 'cause I'm level 25 and the game is spawning in level 40 Va'ruun ships that are shredding my shields and I don't appear to have any counter other than grinding out credits and skill points. Dunno if it's a balance issue or a bug, but space combat ain't much fun for me right now :(

Is that a specific mission or high level planet? I've not really had this at level 32~

I think the space battles are ok, it's realistic enough, just turns out that when it's 1 vs n ships as they all just come straight at you it's a bit boring. It's better when there are some ships on your side, it's a glorious mess.

I need more time to sort out mods as I not done mods before, even getting dlss to work is 2 mods plus support file dl/install and then have to follow the guide for game pass, not steam.

Is windows 11 an option for gaming now or is it still poor?
been on 11 for a while now with no issues. It's pretty good at dealing with things like hardware changes and keep going. Previous install moved from intel to amd, installed drives and worked fine. Then recently AM4 > AM5 and again just a driver update and runs fine

The AI seems to just go straight for the player ship which is a bit dumb.

That hasn't been an issue since the windows XP days.

There is no reason to upgrade. Hardly anyone has.

Reminds me of the ryujin mission i tried last night. I won’t spoil it but you’re not supposed to kill guards so you get a disruptor. Jesus wept what a ballache. The bloody building is a labyrinth and i kept getting lost trying to find my objectives. The idiotic stun gun doesn’t seem to register what should be a clean point blank hit. It takes three or four hits from a 5 round mag to incapacitate the guards. Meanwhile i took so bloody long finding where to go and then how to get out again they all woke up again at least once.

Omnishambles. I’m actually quite proud of myself for not losing the rag and slaughtering the lot of em’

I just ran to the objective and did not kill anyone. They were alerted however obviously and shooting at me. Lol

BTW, did anyone else running Win 11 suddenly have AutoHDR suddenly start working with Starfield? Not running any mods except the DLSS one and the only recent change I've made is turning on ReBar using Nvidia Profle Inspector - did that do it? Or did Microsoft push a stealth update that added Starfield to the AutoHDR whitelist?
Worked from day one for me

Just started playing this, and I have just landed at the very first mission spot (Kreet), and the damn robot keeps on getting in the way when I am trying to shoot enemies, or move around behind cover  Hopefully the other companions are not as dumb :o

Oh dear !

In fairness, the entire Starfield world could do with a bit more smut/sexuality :p

It is all very twee and tame, but i get why as they probably wanted to ensure it is suitable for older kids/young teenagers etc.

I guess it just seems a bit jarring after playing GTA, Cyberpunk etc.

(I won't get into the absurdness off our society that makes it acceptable to digitally murder innocent people, but not see a nipple made from pixels..)

Edit - Seems to be an 18/Mature rating anyway..hm

Oh now thats a topic I can rant on about for hours ! What our society deems allowable and not allowable is laughably out of all whack
