***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

we should at least be able to see as much as you can see going to a local supermarket. On Sunday I almost went blind, the girls where basically in not much more than thongs picking up their weekly shopping

talk about perverts playing games, just go shopping on a hot day

Purely for science reasons, which supermarket is this?

:D

Can I just say when Bethesda recommended a SSD for this game they weren't really stating exactly what they meant.
I first installed Starfield on a Samsung 970 Sata III SSD.
It was jumpy and laggy in most outdoor areas and also in takeoff/landing cut scenes. This was even with a 5900X and 7900XTX combo. Uninstalled and made some room on my Samsung 980 NVME M.2 SSD.
Wow, the difference is night and day. So anybody out there that is thinking of buying this. Make sure you have a fast M.2 drive to put it on.

Starfield on PC may have a major IO utilization problem where even the fastest Gen5 SSDs are not safe from the wrath of stuttering, as pointed out by Compusemble.

Can't say I've noticed any stuttering.......

But then I am playing on a NVME M2 as well :D

Does sound like NVME is the way to go. Im on a 970 Evo plus and have barely any stutter or hitching at all (maybe the odd/very rare hitch on new city location for like a split second).

They probably developed it with the Xbox Series storage in mind.

Whilst the loading is annoying the speed of it is probably quicker than a cutscene for, say, opening a door.

Almost starting to get a bit bored now, some of the quests I'm on are very much fetch quests and almost feel like radiant Ai quests.

I'll probably jump back on the terramorph one as that was fantastic first time round.

The only stutter i get is when i exit out of a convo and it stutters for a millisecond. Oh and the scoping in and out causes a stutter too in some areas i found!

Whats everyone done to fix the super dark areas where its literally impossible to see anything at all. The blacks are too black.

I've got LUT neutral installed. Any other mods suggested to at least configure that somewhat?

There's no gamma or brightness control so in some areas like under a bridge where there's a big shadow being cast, the area is literally pitch black.

That's why Bethesda made the game washed out. You've broken it throught that LUT. :))

Hasn't really bugged me till i got to a certain planet where it was pitch black basically. So gonna need a fix for the fix.

There are some mods for torches.
It didn’t feel like a game breaking cheat to grab myself a torch that’s still not as good as some of the current LED torches, not when I’m flying around in a fusion driven spaceship

Its surprising just how often in the future, people have forgotten how to connect a small torch to a gun like we do today in 2023. Its even more surprising how often in the future that night vision googles/sights arent a thing :p

Or that the future has forgone buggies in favour of just hopping around on alien planets. And cars. Not a single car to be seen. And now i think of it, why do entire planets only have one city? And why do i get lung damage walking near a gas vent in a god damned spacesuit?

Ok probably best to stop picking at this thread
