You'll get to the point where you literally dont pick stuff up anymore, maybe the odd rare thing if you find it.
Except digipicks, those god damned hateful little things. I constantly forget to check how many i have (my fault, i know) and buy more. I’ve lost count of the amount of doors, safes etc I couldn’t open due to this.

On the other hand I’ve also used plenty only to end up with a poxy 300 credit and a snow globe. So may have saved me some time and effort but those unopened doors itch my brain :D

Digipicks are cheap, just buy them at merchants, before I had to restart, I had 30+ in possession.

I've bought Digipicks a couple times but I've been finding more than enough although I've not broken many of them.
Oh I’ve broken loads. I spend the time arranging them all but I somehow still manage to balls it up fairly regularly (only the advanced/master ones to be fair to myself). I just go a little boss eyed after a while looking at them.

The more I play, the more I think they ballsed up the inventory sizes. Big time.

I'm sorry, but if you are going to make a game with sixty gazillion different guns and their variants, and an absolutely crazy amount of resources and aid items etc, whilst filling every location with an abundance of the stuff, then you need to give the player a larger inventory.

It turns the game into 'Sortfield' and does increasingly become a chore. I end up overencumbered all the ***** time.

(And yes I've maxed out weight lifting and ship cargo etc, and wear armour that adds capacity).

I have no idea how anyone plays this without the weightlifting and ship cargo increase skills.

I know I could just not pick up stuff, but then what's the point in having it all there anyway? What's the point in items and credits if you just essentially ignore them when out and about?
Just get what you need and has the largest value. You can track items for science projects too.

Since I can autoheal easily, I just carry a suit from rather early on and the booster for increase carry capacity, in all environments. Buy minerals and such at traders. Only a few guns are worth picking up after a while.

Its main problem is the lack of vehicles. That would help with the inventory space like in NMS.
Let’s be realistic then and limit it to two and a sidearm, would that improve things? With a cap on ammo capacity for good measure?

Currently only level 15 yet I’ve played about 50 hours and only have 25K credits due to having to buy ammo, med kits and better guns.

Do the rewards increase considerably further along the main story? Only I’ve no idea how people are earning enough to buy new ships, it cleared me out just upgrading Frontier a little bit.
Yeah, you could have a couple of guns only if you apply a more realistic balistic system a la Arma 3. Would work great overall ;)

I've upgraded the sneak to master level (2.25x bonus dmg from bidding) and I'm using only single shot, not automatic firing mode and don't need ammo or health kits to buy. They're plenty to pick up and only a few enemies are harder. Ah, and also mastered the upgrade of weapons. Nothing in the skills regarding ballistics or handguns or whatever it is now.

Upgrade with containers your ship so you can dry more. Loot only valuable items and sell. Ask for money when helping out people and asking what you want in return. I only upgraded the base ship and stolen ones. They're better like that than default of what I can buy.

At least on PC we have the choice to remove most restrictions I guess
Thankfully xbox game pass players some have console commands so it's not all bad.

You ask why do people play like this? I think the issue is that 1) it's a Bethesda game and that has historically been how you play them and B) this is more for materials more than guns etc, but when something says "this component is needed for crafting" you have to pick it up because you don't know when and why you'll need it, so you start hoarding it all

I did not ask why people play like that but I get it, path of least resistance etc etc. Sometimes you just want to be overpowered for enjoyment and not have tasks feel like a chore or a second job (like it would if you had to manually fly everywhere without fast travel).
I get the hoarding mentality though for sure!

When I get to Jemison I pick up everything and land at the lodge (so a short walk to your infinite stash) - I do my crafting in the basement so it's a short haul to carry the 1000-or-so tons of resources I've accumulated to the benches (wish they'd put that box down there though).
There is an ammo box with unlimited mass down in the crafting basement. It hasn't reset or lost anything on me so far....

My crashing to desktop problem continues even after going from a 3400G > 5600 (I was hoping the issue was the crappy 4 cores but it seems not) Turning off FSR and going native res helped make it longer before crashes but it still happens...

Also If i change from 1440p to 1080p then go into game and back to the menu it has changed back to 1440p, looking at the game res it looks to me more like 1080p than 1440p though, so no idea what's going on :/

RE: the limited storage thing

I still think it is a design flaw in the game. I thought the whole purpose of having loads of different guns, explosives, aid buffs (potions..) and pieces of armour that specialise in one thing over another is so that you can change between them depending on which foes you are facing, and what environment/scenario you are in is? If you come well equipped in that regard, you have very little space left over for resources/things you find on your travels, even with all the carrying capacity buffs.

I don't want to use console commands to make unlimited storage, as i do sort of like the RPG element of managing things, i just think from a game design point of view they gave too little storage space for the amount of items they littered everywhere/the variety of stuff you can use.
