***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

My crashing to desktop problem continues even after going from a 3400G > 5600 (I was hoping the issue was the crappy 4 cores but it seems not) Turning off FSR and going native res helped make it longer before crashes but it still happens...

Also If i change from 1440p to 1080p then go into game and back to the menu it has changed back to 1440p, looking at the game res it looks to me more like 1080p than 1440p though, so no idea what's going on :/

Saw a thread about this somewhere a few days ago when I was searching for 6600 vs 7600 starfield performance.
The poster said turning off auto tune in the Adrenalin and set to a mild under volt worked for them, someone else capped FPS to 60 and that worked for them. Could be the card is being a little aggressive with frequencies for the specific workload.

I thought I would go and play Mass Effect Legendary to compare to Starfield. I booted up the first Mass Effect game and oh boy....

The graphics are a bit dated compared to Starfield but the art direction of Mass Effect is superior. It also has working HDR and black blacks unlike Starfield.

When talking to NPC's you get interesting dynamic camera angles unlike Starfield's static front on camera angle. My Wife walked past as I had Commander Shepard on screen and she said that it looked like a real person. The lip sync is kind of poor in Mass Effect but the character models are nearly on par with Starfield. The way conversation flows is easily better in Mass Effect.

The voice acting is easily superior in Mass Effect and as I have finished it years ago I know the story in Mass Effect blows Starfield out of the water.

The sound in both games is good.

Loading is less common in Mass Effect and when it happens it takes at most 1 second versus constant loading in Starfield which takes longer.

The beginnings of the story are very similar in both Mass Effect and Starfield. The main character touches a strange object and sees a vision. When people ask you what you saw, Mass Effect's conversation options are interesting. In Starfield you can answer "I saw nothing" and the character you are talking to just says ok and gives you the keys to his starship and treats you like the Messiah.

Mass Effect has team mates that you actually care about and are well written and voice acted. I actively disliked all of Starfield's companions and couldn't care less about them. There is a point in Starfield's main quest where something dramatic happens to one of the characters and I felt absolutely nothing. Compare that to the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2.

Basically what I am saying is don't waste your time playing Starfield and go play the vastly superior Mass Effect Legendary edition if you haven't already.

Instead of giving money to PureDark, I think this guy should get some extra cash... He's modded DLSS/NIS SHARPENING/REFLEX(BOOST) in the game and IN the menu! It's so damn awesome and it just works

Works with both DLSS 2/3 and DLSS 3 Frame Gen!

I felt something.... it was happiness that there was one less annoying NPC following me around

You’re about a decade late, we’ve played them. It’s also a shame that the ending made no sense and crapped all over the franchise.

I am sure there are still plenty of people who haven't played them yet and might get a shock at how little this type of game has progressed in all the years since Mass Effect arrived. In Starfield's case many aspects have regressed in comparison to Mass Effect. Go compare The Citadel to New Atlantis for starters.

I agree the ending of Mass Effect 3 was disappointing but at least the story up until that point was really good unlike Starfield's main story which is laughably bad from start to finish.

Petition to change 'lovely' to Richard.

Another one of your posts getting upset at me for criticising your prescious. Why don't you play the ball instead of the man for a change.

Companions are bloody awful though. Don't think I've ever used them in Bethesda games.
Unless I'm forced to I generally don't use in any game come to think of it.

Give them a decent weapon and 1 ammo and they are useful enough... when they don't get stuck somewhere.
Grenades are a bit hit and miss as more likely to bounce back to you and you take the damage.

Also an extra 130 in carry weight if you use them as a mule

Not upset at all, I wasnt on the development team. I just enjoy the effort you go to for the inane ramblings. Please keep us updated on the next revelation.

Are you just comparing any game set in space? Not really sure what the criteria is here. ME1 and 2 are classics for a reason, and also very different to Starfield, if you can look beyond the fact they both have spaceships in them.

I'm not even disagreeing the story is bad, just don't feel the need to constantly post about it whilst I'm still playing the game (but telling everyone I'm absolutely having the worst time ;)

Why are you not getting upset at people posting they are having a great time with Starfield? You don't harass them do you?

In future why don't you just leave your laughing emoji on my posts and move on instead of insulting me just because I am expressing my completely valid disappointment with a game I wanted to love.

It’s like you’re stuck on repeat. Just move on.

You are another one that should just leave your laughing emoji and move on.

You wouldn't say that about someone who has posted loads of times here going on about how great the game is would you. You guys just want this thread to be a Starfield love fest echo chamber.

The fact is the game is mid at best and there are a lot of people disappointed with it. The SteamDB score backs this up.

Just to back up my point that Starfield is a mid game at best:

Fallout 76 is now higher ranked than Starfield on SteamDB.

Oooft.

In fact there is only one other Bethesda game rated lower than Starfield and that is Fallout 4 VR.

And yet people on this thread call me a d**k head for having an opinion shared by most others who have played the game.

That would be lovely yes :p

On a serious note. What I think people want is others talking about the game and going into detail of what they like or don't.

Reason people are getting tired of your posts is you hardly ever seem to do that. Seemingly you just pop in to bash the game.

Rarely do you say I am on this mission, this or that happened which was disappointing. Xyz should have been like this or that etc.

At least that's what I think the problem is anyway :D

Now for those who actually want to talk about the game. I am doing the UC Vanguard missions and they are turning out to be more fun than I expected. Certainly better than the 5-6 main story missions I have done so far anyway.

Maybe @lovelyhead you should give them a go and come discuss with us your thoughts. Would be fun to see which way you bash these quests :p
