***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Where did you learn to do that? Oh god don't tell me it was on Neon.
learn? was this thing she said first nite in the sack, lol. but boring being nice, least with andeja you can be bad now and again and her responses are far better in the mornings. just trying to make it different, though i am drawing the line at relationship with sam

Well, I finally got achievements to work again. All I had to do was delete all the saves, uninstall the game, re-install, and start a new character. Of course I can't use any of the "poisoned" saves ever again because they corrupt the current game and achievements die again. Still, 41/50 now. But I've had worse bugs.

Found this website, which shows all the ships modules, requirements to obtain them, including your level ! Which many youtube creators seems to forget to add when they doing their builds and you trying to find the parts they been using and can't ! :p

So I thought I post it here incase anyone is interested in some of the stats. Also tells you where parts can be bought, which is pretty nice as well, considering there is some parts one can not buy through your own starship builder platform, mostly those that are manufactory exclusive.

Phil Spencer to FlowGames (Brazilian media company):

Starfield has been awesome. One of the special things about my job is I get to play games very early in the development. In fact, I was playing Starfield about this time last year and the game came out at the beginning of September of this year and I could tell when I was playing and the fact that I couldn't stop playing that this was probably going to be a pretty special game.
...
You never know when something is going to be a hit, but it was nice to see how successful it's been. In fact, Starfield has now had over 12 million players since its launch and it still sits in our top 10 most played games from our studios, so thank you everybody for all the support on Starfield and making it a tremendous hit.
...
You know, Skyrim is such an amazing hit from Bethesda Game Studios. Talking to Todd Howard and the team, really what they wanted to do is give people who love space and space exploration that same opportunity. We've already announced that we've got our next expansion coming, Shattered Space. We've already told the community that they'll get all the mod tools so they can go and create their own content in Starfield, which has been so important to Skyrim, so a ton of confidence that for many many years Starfield will be sitting very high.

a few millions sales, half of those refunded and the rest never bought the game but gamepass is a great way to boost the numbers of people who played your game..

It's like TV ratings when the BBC or whomever claims 12millions people watched drwho because some people flicked through the channels and saw 1 second of it they are counted as a viewer.

A games sucess should be determined by the percent of people who actually bought a copy of the game and actually completed it.

which for most games based on steam achievements often isn't that many people

For example Yakuza like a dragon has 15 chapters.

half the people who bought the game on steam didn't even get half way..

I bet loads of games are the same, but the achievements don't make it so obvious or people don't pay attention

"Complete this game or your money back" can you imagine if a publisher ever said that? :D They'd have to make good games again....

Oddly starfield on steam hides what percent of the playerbase has what achievement and it jus says 0.0% of players

I wonder why?

21,920 according to SteamDB but current players doesn't equal overall player numbers - it's certainly tailed off a lot since launch though.

According to Nadella and Spencer, they gained a million players in October and a further million in November (all Game Pass I imagine) - it's also in the top ten played games on Game Pass (I agree though that the '12 million' is just marketing BS).

@arknor achievements are disabled if you use mods - I don't have achivements for doing some of the early stuff but I do have the achievement for visiting all 100 star-systems (4.1% of players) - they're a flawed metric for judging Starfield's engagement (the DLSS mods were super-popular at launch and had hundreds of thousands of downloads).

ahh the number shows if you hover over the achieves on that window, but if you actually open the achievements page it doesnt.

so you can't check the percent of players apart from the last few achieves you did.

41.6% of players got the first super power thing. (about the point I gave up the main story is just boring with unlikeable characters.. , but I did a lot of side content)

42.7% of players visited 20 star systems.
34.6% accessed 50 computers.
38% of players killed 300 human enemies

Doesn't seem like high numbers for those achieves imo, I guess everyone gave up and might try it again when it's out of alpha state

Or the number is under-reported due to people using (shocker!) mods in a Bethesda game - this one alone had 286,000 unique downloads.
does reshade even disable achievements? and afaik theres a mod that renables achieves anyway? which I'd guess anyone using mods would install
anyway 286k downloads isn't a massive number, it might be how many players the game actually has that didn;t give up on it though

As I mentioned, I used that mod (and others) prior to DLSS being implemented natively and yes, I'm missing several of the early-game achievements - why didn't I use the mod to re-enable achievements? Because I don't care about achievements :)
