Finally caved. Had the 256gb model in my cart whilst I carried on browsing for games. Sure enough when I went to check out half an hour later they had sold out. Managed to bag a base 64gb model though, which for what I need is probably just as well.

Best off just getting the 64GB and ordering a 2TB 2230 SSD for £100

20% off the Steam Deck dock too, £79 down to £63.20. Tempting even though I have an unofficial one. I'll probably get it to rule out port issues with crappy hubs

Where can you get 2TB that cheap?
Aliexpress as @Mesai said. Or pay £90 odd quid more to get it a few days quicker with a better returns policy.
This is mine, ready to fit in my new deck when it arrives. Seems pretty legit to me

Wow, 64, 256 and 512 models all out of stock now

I note the 'faster' on the 256 and 'fastest' on the 512 model. Does this mean a different SDD is used in the 512 model?

I was waiting for pay day today, now all versions of the Steam Deck are sold out. What's the point in advertising the sale on the Deck on the splash page for the entirety of the sale if they're sold out within 24 hours?

512 and 64 models were out of stock yesterday. I checked 10 mins later and they were both in stock again

I believe that the ssd on the 256 is pcie x2 as opposed to pcie x4 on the 512. Though testing shows little to no appreciable difference in practice.

I was going to get one yesterday evening, but my transaction wouldnt go through. There is two weeks left, so I am sure more will pop up hopefully for longer than seconds at a time though!
