*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

My 1TB OLED arrived earlier, but looks like it's got a strange manufacture defect on the left thumb stick. It's oddly dirty looking, doesn't feel grippy like the right thumb stick, and can't be cleaned to make it feel like the right thumb stick either.

I've sent a ticket to support but likely RMA. Bit of a shame but oh well, got the old SD to use still.

I did also have WiFi issues which seems to be a driver issue. Apparantly factory restore then avoid 5Ghz band as that can basically brick the WiFi chip until another factory restore. Hopefully valve fixes this soon.
Sorry to hear about the issues, sods law but if anything, Valve RMA seems to be pretty damn good!

What's this wifi issue you speak of? Got any links to others having the problem?

Yeah and I can't find one other instance of this online so clearly just unlucky and not a consistent manufacturing issue.

The WiFi seems to be related to certain WiFi 6 routers (not just one brand) where only the steam deck has problems connecting.

Essentially, if you have one of the routers effected then DO NOT connect to the 5ghz band. I'm sure this will get fixed via update in the future, but for now if you have issues it could be this.

Screen on the OLED is very nice, even on the etched glass it's very vivid. Transfered my 2TB SSD and it booted just fine, but it seems like I have a faulty left trackpad haptic as the vibration is very noisy where as the right side is silent, even with the left on the lowest haptic setting of 1db and the right on a max of 12db, the left is still noisy.

It's as if it's vibrating against the shell :(

My 5ghz works fine on my Netgear RAX200 router, no issues that I can tell there, as it was already paired on my SSD it automatically connected it bootup.

Is it definitely not just a plastic film that needs to be peeled off?

Aside from WiFi, also seen multiple reports about audio. Oh and irregular frametimes and rates with new update OLEDS need.

I've seen a video showing the same benchmark running and the OLED is ******. Related to 3.5.5

Edit: firmware is the issue not the deck model re the GPU clock bug.

Certainly can't see any part that needs removing, I've delicately tried to see if there's a anything there. But it's not on the other joystick so it wouldn't make sense, unless it's something in manufacture that's supposed to get removed.

I've just tested the touch capacitive function and it works perfectly still.

Tempted to try alcohol wipe on it but won't do that if the unit gets RMAd, I don't want to break something!

Definitely nothing like that on my one, both sides are identical and were very clean. Had to open up an RMA request as this left trackpad haptic is terrible.

Oh and looks like wifi issue is 160mhz band on wifi6 routers. I’ve just turned it off on my router in anticipation.

Alcohol can’t hurt anything, I cleaned my whole LCD SD with alcohol before listing it for sale.

Ok thanks may give it a go then to see if it cleans it up. I'd rather not send it back - its really mostly superficial, but is a less grippy Vs the right one.
If I'm not happy I should just be patient and get RMA though.

Regarding the loud trackpad above, I noted that on my deck (right trackpad) when I first got it booted.
I factory restored it due to WiFi issue and now it doesn't seem to have it.

So you could try a factory reset to see if it helps.

Delivery has gone back to 3-5 days. Mine is currently in packaged (ordered 21st Nov), not that I'm in a rush for it.

I dont get how its still 3-5 day delivery. Lies.
I ordered on 16th and only got the tracking number today.

‘The parcel data was entered into the GLS IT system; the parcel was not yet handed over to GLS.’

It’ll still be 3-5 day delivery for me, which was an order from a week ago.

I mean it's work/business days but yeah seems optimistic. Doubt launch day counted as one either due to the time.

Tried a factory reset using the original SSD but the trackpad haptic issue didn't change. Just have to wait for Valve to get back to me as this will need to be replaced, not a great start.

Nope. Its at 5 days now and still not left the warehouse.

The fact I could order something tonight from Amazon and have it by tomorrow evening is something I value a lot.

Think Valve need to re-think their supply chain and distribution process if they want to sell millions of units.

Imagine if Switch numbers were ordered!

Sorry what are you 'noping' you said you ordered on the 16th which was a Thursday and it was the evening so write that off, today is the 5th business day so yes it is outside but also it doesn't say guaranteed, its an estimate.
Considering how infrequent their product launches are I doubt they are going to rush to redo the whole supply chain lol.
