*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

I've ordered the 512GB couple days ago and I've already received the email that they posted it out already. Surprising as I expected stock issues.

Going to fit a 2TB WD SN770M straight away.

Just wondering about protective cases. I'm swayed towards the JSaux modcase with fan.

Do like the look of the DBrand Killswitch case but looks like you can only get it from the USA and bumps the cost up.

Anyone used the fan that comes with the JSaux modcase or is it a gimmick?

Being born in 85 the NES was my first console, SNES is still my favourite though. Been an expensive hobby ever since :D
I never had a NES, but a couple of my school friends did, so I spent a lot of time round theirs!

First console (after Spectrum & Gameboy) was the SNES, and I’ve had every Nintendo console since (except Wii U of course), and every Xbox and PlayStation, a gaming PC for past 25 years, and every Quest since CV1, and now both steam decks!

Think I might have a problem!

Before the NES I had a Master System and forgot the one before that where you put small tapes in it and it had a keyboard. That one was crap.

I count the Sega Master System as my first proper console. Loved safari and the motorbike game which I forgot it's name now. Both built into the console, so was no need for cartridges for those.

But once I got my NES I fell in love with Mario games and it soon became my favourite console. Pretty much had nearly all the consoles are that. But recently can't be asked with consoles.

@Nitefly I had Celeste on ignore on steam. But after reading your posts I picked it up to try on my Steam Deck when it arrives. Better be good! :p:D

I’d forgotten about Sega consoles, I never had one, there was big rivalry between Nintendo and Sega, around my way you were either one or the other!

Great advantage consoles have now over PC is auto resume and auto TV switching on and input selection, makes it so quick to just pick up and play a game.

It is very good indeed. You will need to get to the end of the second chapter for it to bite you.

It will slowly charm you and then… well, it’s an ‘experience game’, so I won’t spoil it for you :)

Haha. I always had both. Only one I did not have simultaneously was the Saturn. Don't see the point in taking sides. I did like Mario a lot more than Sonic though.

I remember using tracing paper to draw Mario and Sonic next to each other. I can't draw to save my life, but did very well with tracing paper

Cool. I probably won't get around to playing it properly for a while. But will install it and have a quick go once my steam deck arrives.

Oh and you also put me off Sonic Frontiers. Wanted to give that a go as it is £15.99. But will wait until it is sub £10 now. Or maybe even humble choice

It looks like an interesting game, a bit like the (awesome) Ori games, but with 8 bit graphics and sound.

I’ve just bought it, seems silly not to for £3.74!

Bit of a heads up for anyone considering installing windows on their OLED, Valve hasn’t released wifi, Bluetooth and audio drivers for it yet, so probably worth holding off before doing it!

Yeh, 100% wouldnt bother. Im seeing a few small bugs with things like brightness and colour vibrance even on SteamOS stable 3.5.7.

@TNA yeah I’d avoid Frontiers… I barely got an hour into it and it felt like a pretty shallow gameplay loop of collecting things, under a disguise of ‘ooo this is epic’.

It’s a beautiful game (in many ways…) with a super pretty soundtrack - which I have on vinyl :)

Unlike Ori, there’s way more emphasis on tight platforming and skill and less on exploration. But it has heart and presentation that sets it apart from other ‘jump and die a LOT’ games (like Super Meat Boy).

Enjoy!

I am blowen away by the SD. How the heck did I miss the original release, so glad I picked up the OLED.

I added a screen protector to the 1tb OLED and I expect it was like a gloss screen, could see reflections so removed it.

I've been playing Alan Wake, about 50% thro the game at the moment. Really enjoying it, just being able to zone out from life on the sofa whilst the usual house routine continues is a blessing.

Can the OLED be overclocked, just wondered as could tweak if possible.

Another point for the SD, battery. This is about the limit of what is practical for me. Playing Alan wake on a full charge sees me thro a gaming session.

I have no idea how the Asus is doing for sales given the battery life, I expect not great.

Just discovered this, if you want to (legally) play Alan Wake 2, or maybe other games exclusively on Epic Games, it is possible without installing windows!

Thanks for the heads up.

Alan Wake is superb for anyone who hasn't played it.

How does Alan Wake 2 run?
