*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Steam says 3-5 business days for delivery but I’m reading of folks waiting a week or two?
Just got an email from parcel force saying they have mine and it's on the way to local depot. So delivery Monday :)

Ordered 8pm 24th, so that's not bad really, would be tomorrow if it wasn't the weekend. The 3-5 days isn't really true as it's from the point of despatch rather than from when you place the order, convenient wording.....so if it takes several days to despatch then it quickly ends up a week+

Kind of keeping my fingers crossed they attempt a sneaky free Saturday delivery upgrade lol

Yours turned up yet?
Yes it was to be delivered on Friday yesterday by parcel force but unfortunately I couldn't take delivery due to work commitments. I had to reschedule for this coming Monday. So overall it's quite quick. Another down side is my missus won't let me have because it's my main Christmas present haha. Oh well as long as it gets here in one piece. Let me know about your experience!

Ahh ok, that sucks. Mine is deffo looking like Monday, nothing today but it's a busy weekend so would have sat in the box most likely anyway.

Have asked PF to leave it at my local post office as its a few minutes walk from my work office so fingers crossed I can grab on my lunch break or something.

Annnnnd it's just been delivered at home!.....only 3 hours left of the working day :D
I've taken delivery of mine. Took it out to inspect it, turned it on and no dead pixels the screen is gorgeous. Out it came, my Wi-Fi key in, Installed updates logged in my Steam account and it's ready to go. All seems rather excellent no dodgy buttons or bad dpads. And then it was back in It's case for Christmas, my God haha. It's not all bad I've a Anbernic RG cube for my birthday soon. But my God the SD! It's going to be a love affair I can tell. :D

Three months, that's a long time in tech- why not treat it as an early present? My wife's birthday is next week, and I gave her her present (Tissot PRX) back in April!

Also, if anyone likes platformers Animal Well is great on the Deck.

EDIT- also if you wait 3 months, make sure to power it off. I've had extremely strange behaviour when letting mine run out of battery on standby.

Yeah I know it's long time to wait originally I was getting the Alienware AW3225QF for Christmas and I got that early haha. I made sure it shut down properly so hopefully no bother. I'm guessing by Christmas day it's going to be flat though and I'll have to charge it. Your very kind to your wife by the way. :)

Ok so unboxed and setup at last. The screen is an absolute sight to behold, it truly is beautiful!

Just fired up ratchet and clank, plays perfectly and looks fantastic! I am in the process of beating DIRT 3 complete edition on my desktop, installed it, asked it to run it with proton 9.06 and it's flawless. Runs at a solid 90fps, granted it is an older game now but that's still cool :D

So far a very happy customer. Only slight niggle is the L trigger is a very tiny bit creaky. But tbh with volume up you don't hear it so meh!. Otherwise it's a very well put together little thing.

Now that you have seen the case, I'm sure you can knock up a suitably sized brick, or other substance equivalent to the mass of a Steam Deck, before it gets wrapped?

Might want to put it in battery storage mode.

Noooo! You have the perfect excuse! "Darling, they've said on Overclockers UK that I need to take it out to charge it every 3 days, otherwise the battery will die and Christmas will be ruined! They've also said that the best way to prevent battery damage is to play a full playthrough of FTL between charges!"

:D

Now this maybe crazy enough to work! :D

Hurraah my girlfriend relented and I'm now gaming on my new 1tb Oled SD! :D what an experience. Buying something else for Christmas now probably some nice wireless head phones to go with it haha. So now I'm just trawling back through this thread to pick up any helpful tips/tricks/guides and also see if I can find some new games too add to my sd. Exciting times. :)
