*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Moraroy? If so then I’ve just had a quick look at it and it uses Non Steam Launchers. I’m not 100% clued up on the situation nor have I looked into what Moraroy does but NSL can apparently cause problems due to how it sets up each launcher with Proton so be aware.
Yeah sorry that's the one, I just misread the name

They are the standard launchers but they are configured on the deck in such a way that they are all shortcut and ran from the "non steam games" section of the library and they are in effect full screen pop up windows running as an application I guess.

Wouldn't say I was at all the authority on the stuff but what I have enabled so far seems to work pretty seamlessly. Having then chosen the launcher remembers your credentials makes everything easier from the logon perspective as you then open up in to that library etc.automatically. makes it feel a bit more seamless.

I think that due to the way launchers work they will.never be seamless but it's giving the desktop pc experience that the ally etc. all would give on the deck which is cool.

Just been good fun so far working out how flexible the SD can be outside of its core abilities

Has anyone got Batman arkham knight working with the Steam deck controls? It kind of works but not fully. Seems to be on keyboard and I can't change it to gamepad. This game I have to launch via desktop using heroic launcher for epic games.

I ordered a JSAUX anti glare screen protector and proceeded to have a mare fitting it. First one as soon as I peeled off protective layer off the sticky bit dust instantly got stuck in it. Made a mess of trying to get that off. I then put on number 2 and fitted fibre but then spotted a hair under it.. Probably off my damn ginger cat. Tried to clean it up by removing it and it snapped. Had to resort back to number 1 again and after 20 attempts it's fitted. But I'm not 100% happy with it. I might buy some more and do it in the kitchen were there's least dust in the air. 12 quid down the drain. Does everyone use screen protectors? I've 1TB oled SD.

Edit: are the Brotect screen protectors any good? 2 pack for 7.49.

Pro tip, do it in the bathroom after running the shower hot for a few minutes. The moisture in the air will clear any floating dust.

Rigged up the deck on its dock to the kids projector in the playroom with my soundcore Boom! Bluetooth speaker for sound. :D

Son has been playing crazy taxi for the last half hour and I have lost about an hour into project cars 3 today already lol

Another one to check out if you only want epic/gog (I think?) is junk store. It requires decky loader, but feels like having your library built into game mode.

No had a bit of a head scratcher with it so far, in theory should at least allow streaming but it wouldn't load from the steamOS GUI once installed. Going to go back to it tomorrow. My dock has arrived and want to get a mouse / keyboard plugged in for the passwords etc as it's a pain in the rear trying to use on screen keyboard and in case of the EA app is impossible as it wants to keep focus on itself all the time and blocks the O/S keyboard

Battle .net and Ubisoft work and absolute treat though and Diablo 2 resurrected runs beautifully and with full game pad controls :)

Had my first annoying situation with a game though. Fancied going back to virtua tennis 4....has the old games for windows as part of the installation, this seems to have annoyed something and now it won't uninstall (times out) and the game wont load :(
Can also stream the deck to another device like your PC to use its mouse and keyboard for desktop tinkering. As for Game Pass streaming I got it working by using Edge browser.

I've never bothered with a screen protector, I use the age old skill of being careful :) Plus I know I would bugger it up anyway.
Yeah I put one on when it was delivered

Just habit I guess and the one I got came with an installation frame etc. So my fat shovel hands were able to succeed at fitting it lol

I don't really understand the point in screen protectors. You're essentially putting something that scratches easily over something that doesn't, and you'll inevitably spend your time looking at the scratches and scores on the screen protector when the glass beneath is pristine. All you're going to do is keep it nice for the next person who owns it?

I don't use them on anything.

Replacing a £3 bit of glass is better than fixing a scratched screen. If my protector gets a deep scratch I'll just buy a new one.
I've had electronics (most recently my Garmin) saved by them so I tend to just chuck one on most things.

That's pretty much the point I'm making; You wouldn't need to fix the scratched screen because it's far more robust than a £3 bit of glass so wouldn't get a deep scratch in the first place. From what I've seen, most people don't bother changing out a scratched screen protector and even find a certain satisfaction in knowing it's the protector that's scratched and not the screen, blissfully oblivious to the fact that the screen wouldn't have got scratched as easily as the cheap piece of glass did.

Anyway, it's a personal choice and I prefer the look, touch and feel of the glass as it was intended to be used.

The stock screen, at least the OG model, is not scratch resistant.

Yeah. Noticed this also. What a load of rubbish. Not a sale, a marketing opportunity.
