*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

I’ll be putting windows and Game pass on it immediately so the only thing I care about is having good drivers.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts on that. I think I will do a dual boot type thing. That way best of both worlds. Would be interesting to see performance and battery life difference between the two.

Linus is dismantling a steam deck live now on air, interesting that both joy sticks are removed and getting stick drift due to factory calibration. There is no stick for it to drift physically. Hopefully that might get a software which allow you to tweak it should it happen down the line.

lil' Timmy is just still super butthurt that his company wrote off PC gamers as a bunch of pirates and a dead platform and then Valve showed how ultra wrong he was about that. Anything he can do to try and drag them or discredit anything they do he will do it

I loved how the other day he posted on Twitter this boastful infographic about how many users and how much revenue EGS is generating and what a big success it is, but it was so easy to see from the numbers he posted that the average annual spend per user was something like $2 - pretty much confirming that almost everyone on there is just taking them for a ride claiming the freebies :D Just the most amazing self-own posting that

The anti cheat is already on linux which is what makes it daft.

That and the fact the EAC is no good on windows anyway.

5 sec search on google

Is it so hard to understand Fornite is an immensely popular and profitable game and putting it on Linux is just too risky.

How do you stop cheaters with your kernel level anti-cheat when the steam deck can have custom kernels?

It's just not worth it for a game of this magnitude even if Steam deck sells millions.

Is it so hard to understand that it makes zero difference ?

That to is of no meaning just look at how many custom kernels there are for android phones and yet it apparently manages fine on android!

It's just not worth it for a game of this magnitude even if Steam deck sells millions.

Give over, Millions of possible extra players no worth it ! , lol.

It boils down to he don't want his cash cow on Steam, Nothing more nothing less .

I would respect far more if he just came out and said it instead of BS excuses!

Yes but on Windows its a constant cat and mouse game while on Linux cheating would simply go public and rampant with no hope of stopping it similarly to Warzone last year.

If I had a product like Fortnite and Steam asked 30% cut for the privilege I would laugh at their faces. He did admit that the 20-30% that Steam wants is a no no.

So why has not done that on Android given the vast amount out there + the amount of players on android ?

I agree with this regards to Valve but you dont have to use steam to install a game so that excuse wont work either regards enabling for Linux !

They could easily make EGS run on Linux or help the heroic game launcher devs thats on linux already.

Billions of users? That is somewhat farfetched.

Just bear in mind they are struggling to ship 100k units in the first half a year after launch.

Well it's also not just about Timmy being butthurt over the cut Steam take it's also that by making a big song and dance about "hacking" he can try to sow feelings amongst consumers that the SteamDeck is somehow inherently a bad platform rife with cheaters and attempt to discredit the entire thing (it won't work because like everything else he has tried to do it is poorly thought out)
